Knievel - the band

Figured with prior tourmates like Ken Stringfellow (as his backing band and support act), Buffalo Tom, Teenage Fanclub, Luna, Joe Pernice, Chris Knox, and You Am I, they'd have been mentioned here before. Searched ILX and only found Evel references, so now, a thread for the band. Have had the above repeating all morning. Sunny jangle-pop, with fantastic harmonies. Emerald City is one of those albums that would have topped my yearly favorites if I'd heard it in the right year. They strike me a little like Wussy, as far as being beloved by musos but surfacing only intermittently with releases. Are they well thought-of in Australia? Curious about other bands under the radar with a similar pure, hooky vibe, too, so RIYL suggestions welcome.

This is that Knievel! Didn't know the name was still in use. Wayne Connolly has been better known as a producer of other folks records in his homeland over the past couple of decades. I'm hopelessly under-informed, I'm afraid.

That clip, however, is making me nostalgic for someone else's youth.
