I'm simon, a promoter residing in glasgow, scotland. mid to late twenties in age, I used to run a record store and owe everyone in the world money.
today I have mostly listened to...

out hud - street dad
the rogers sisters - purely evil
the black heart procession - amore del tropico
barry adamson - soul murder
the van pelt - stealing from our favourite theives

and repeated listenings to wichita lineman by jimmy webb and eisbar by grauzone.

there you go...

So how is that Out Hud album, heard good things about it. And what I've heard of the new Black Heart was surprisingly happy!

In any event, welcome! :-)

Welcome Simon. I live in Detroit and used to run a record label that put out a 10" by a band that evolved into the Rapture and another by a band that was recently given a full page in the NME. I don't owe anyone money but I still have lots of product being stored across Detroit.

Out Hud is probably going to make my 2002 top 10. Been meaing to check out the Black Heart Procession and I remember the Van Pelt like it was 1996. And you can't go wrong with Jimmy Webb or Grauzone.

The Out Hud album is fantastic, Ned. Really great. And next year there will be a CD that compiles all of their previous singles (and maybe !!!'s as well).

This is worthy, I sez.

You DJ at West 13, don't you? What record store?

- Dee.

used to DJ at west 13th. can't afford the taxi rides from the deep south (or the time) anymore. the record store I used to run was in the basement of flip. called 803 records. closed 2 years ago.

the out hud is every bit as good as people have been saying. the black heart lp is great too. took me a couple of listens due to the surprisingly upbeat feel but there's a couple of moments of absolute genius on it.
