8mile soundtrack possibly best original soundtrack ever

ep, Friday, 15 November 2002 19:42 (twenty-three years ago)

Let me guess, it contains a line where 50 Cents goes "Hey! I was shot once! Fancy that!"?

Total album of the year material. Rakim really brings it, but the nas is subpar.

And the closing "rabbit run" track is good -- christ i don't remember who wrote the rilly sharp article about it, but there was one, honest!

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Friday, 15 November 2002 20:09 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah the rakim is the best hes been in decades, the just blaze microhouse bit is jawdropping, i like his verse on watcher 2 better though

ep, Friday, 15 November 2002 21:02 (twenty-three years ago)

how ill is the beat on "places to go"?

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Saturday, 16 November 2002 01:16 (twenty-three years ago)

the countdown in "8 miles and runnin'" is sweet and its like doubletime but slow and did i just hear a "rhapsody in blue" quote? listen to the way jay cuts against the beat when he counts off his roster like the rhymes are exactly backwards ain't no beat gonna drag him down ain't nobody gonna take his place.

But wtf with the Macy Gray track?

This is like some Eve 6 shit.

two months pass...
OK, this song is fuckin' brilliant. But I still have PC hang-ups about the "bitch" and "ho" references.

and yes, what a great album! Only two not-good songs on it. The Shady records sampler disc I got with it is all really great too.

"I cook hot shit up like Ainsley Harriott" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
