I'm 23, in the USAF by that "Fuck, I ran outta college money, what's the least military military branch to get into" circumstance, got married, live in a pretty happy bourgeousie townhouse, used to play bass and guitar for seminal ohio bands Factor 8 and Jostababy like 4 years ago when I was in highschool/college. Favorite musicians include Black Flag, Miles Davis, (International) Noise Conspiracy, FEAR (earlier stuff), Macitajs On Acid, Trouble Funk, Rye Coalition, Ween, Buddy Rich, Dead Kennedys, Misfits (pre/post-Graves), Daft Punk, and my Dad (even though he only plays covers).
Lately I've been moving on from my guitar upbringing to more electronic media, like the Korg Electribe series, mainly because it's cheap and I can do other-than-Led-Zep-ripoff stuff with it.
I live right between DC and Baltimore, originally from Steubenville OH.

Que?

Queen G (Queeng), Sunday, 17 November 2002 05:07 (twenty-three years ago)

I love Helltime Producto.

Ally (mlescaut), Sunday, 17 November 2002 05:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Well, to Queen G, I guess you'll have to be a bit more detailed with your question there. A possible answer could be: I type in silly Spanish stuff because the USAF made me a Spanish linguist, but all I really remember from the training is obscenities, and the word for "dishwasher".

To Ally, believe me, I appreciate the affection. It's kinda neat to get love from the peoples the second day I've had a computer/online services in 4 years. Just to make sure I haven't fooled anyone into thinking I'm something I'm not, I also really like the "Live in Pompeii" video by Pink Floyd as well. Hopefully that won't spoil anyone's opinion of me. I also really like the Beastie Boys' "Gratitude" video that rips off said PF film.

Ok, the forum has been opened up for more crap about me. I need some advice on job opportunities because I only have 10 months left before I can be a pothe... civilian in the workforce again, and my wife is of the opinion that I should get a job so we won't lose half of our income. I like recording things on a TASCAM 4-track, and I like sleeping in. Yeah. Anyone have any job opportunities in 10 months?

p.s. Yeah, does anyone know of any cheap/free rehearsal space for an up-and-coming post ironic synth-blam outfit to rock out in while getting our shit together in the D.C. area?

If "D.C. area" has come to include New York, you can totally use my apartment.

Ally (mlescaut), Sunday, 17 November 2002 06:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Another reason for me to hate the Air Force

James Blount (James Blount), Sunday, 17 November 2002 09:14 (twenty-three years ago)

(um, not you Helltime) *hangs head in misguided sorrow, envy*

James Blount (James Blount), Sunday, 17 November 2002 09:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh, and welcome, salutations, etc.

James Blount (James Blount), Sunday, 17 November 2002 09:27 (twenty-three years ago)

Welcome indeed!

Queen G (Queeng), Sunday, 17 November 2002 17:13 (twenty-three years ago)

u know u've now increased my spanish vocabulary more than my teacher ever has, and strangely enough the word for washing machine seems to be the only thing i remember as well. oh also, in my old spanish textbook, under useful frases, it had
'you broke my ceramic donkey'.
well, now im off to spain to scare the locals.

cathii (cathii), Sunday, 17 November 2002 18:43 (twenty-three years ago)

You'll be sorry when someone does break your ceramic donkey.

Ally (mlescaut), Sunday, 17 November 2002 19:55 (twenty-three years ago)

if i ever see a ceramic donkey, i will break it.

joan vich (joan vich), Monday, 18 November 2002 13:46 (twenty-three years ago)

"what's the least military military branch to get into"

Huh, I woulda thunk it was the Coast Guard.

hstencil, Tuesday, 19 November 2002 20:51 (twenty-three years ago)

No, but if I have to do anything medical I gotta go to Andrews. I'm at Ft. Meade, so Richmond is a pretty far drive.

Coast Guard, huh? Well, I guess what I was really thinking, "What's the least military military branch to get into where I wouldn't be tempted to steal all the pot they confiscate offa smugglers and get in lotsa trouble because of it?"

Helltime Producto (Pavlik), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 21:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Coast Guard is for pussies.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 21:52 (twenty-three years ago)

My dad was in the Coast Guard.

Sean (Sean), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 21:54 (twenty-three years ago)

The coast guard is by many accounts the toughest and hardest-working branch of the military. The Navy might make you spend a few months on a sub, but you get port calls in awesome places, and make a butt-ton of money (nothing to waste your paycheck on if you're living on a sub or carrier). So guys coming off of subs trad. have $1200 party nights and can still save the rest for a nice car when they get a shore station or a nice house when they get out.

The coast guard spends 8 hours or more every day on tiny boats and get to port in the same junk-o towns every night. Horrible shift work and a basic training regimen that rivals the marine corps. Yeah, the coast guard is about as tough a branch as you can join.

Whoops, this post has nothing to do with music. Sorry.

Tom Millar (Millar), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 22:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh for god's sake, make a flip comment and get your ass handed to you, I see how it is.

I only just noticed James Blount's comments upthread. Why don't you just admit your love for me and come to NYC?

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 22:43 (twenty-three years ago)

See, lookit dat der (sorry, father-in-law's Minnesota/Illinois accent coming through), we made ourselves a match. Tell me when it happens and I'll send you guys a toaster. Or a toaster oven. Because I don't really need both, now that I got all of that melted plastic scraped out of the oven.

Helltime Producto (Pavlik), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 02:35 (twenty-three years ago)

I'll just blow them up, like I did with my surge protector and my hairdryer. I'm not good with electricity, I should become Amish.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 02:46 (twenty-three years ago)

Any girl who can blow up a surge protector is ON IT. Can you cook?

Tom Millar (Millar), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 02:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Hey, yeah. Surge Protector? That's pretty money. I'm not so good at blowing things up, I'm ore into just making them smoke and smell terrible (emergency brakes, stovetops, dishwashers, et c.).

Now, to get this thing back on track (it is a music board, right?), umm... The Rolling Stones.

Yep, Rolling Stones, alright.

Ok.

Helltime Producto (Pavlik), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 03:19 (twenty-three years ago)

i knew someone in the coast guard who was terrified of crossing a bridge.

keith (keithmcl), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 04:12 (twenty-three years ago)

I can cook, some ILxors can vouch for me as they ate my chili.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 04:38 (twenty-three years ago)

God forbid anybody call one of my bluffs. I see trouble.
Can you dance?

Tom Millar (Millar), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 04:44 (twenty-three years ago)

don't take this the wrong way please, but why are there so many Korg Electribes constantly being flogged of on e-bay ? and could you form a band using people who just play Korg Electribes ?

george gosset (gegoss), Wednesday, 20 November 2002 04:59 (twenty-three years ago)
