I will take advantage of any opening to post this spin-off project which is almost gloriously terrible:

TMNT could have partnered up with Olive Garden to leverage the shells/conchiglie thing. Why not?

I don't think they make children's entertainment this abysmal anymore (referring both to the op and Old Lunch's contribution), do they?

Today I learned that in the UK they’re known as Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles because “ninja” is a bad word over there!

Mr. Snrub, Friday, 25 January 2019 01:17 (six years ago)

Yeah, that's bollocks. I don't have a clue who had the idea for the name change, but they could have called it by its original name and it wouldn't have made a blind bit of difference.

Le Baton Rose (Turrican), Friday, 25 January 2019 23:29 (six years ago)

xp. the rationale was something along the lines of "ninjas were assassins, that's too violent a connotation for a kids show". the movie ended up being called ninja turtles however

We were at a Pizza Hut in 1990 or 1991 and my toddler brother threw a fit. He wouldn't stop crying, so the waitress kept bringing him toys and shit. This tape was one of the disposables she brought over to the table. Even at 7 or 8 I was old enough to recognize that there was something off and grotesque about it. I think I played the first track out of curiosity/boredom once. That was enough, but I guess I'll have to go check it out on Youtube now. Props to this poll for pointing me to the apparent highlights

OK the 3 minutes of "Tubin'" feel like 20 minutes. What is it with "children's music" and horrible vocals?

I had this album. Might even be the first album I owned. Can't remember all the songs but I do remember being annoyed that the singer of "Skipping Stones" did not have an Asian accent like Splinter did in the show
