Very excited about the new Le Dom that comes out in a few weeks.

I wanted to like the new Rian Treanor record a lot more than I do. The rhythms feel too algorithmically-generated to me, too scattered, not enough function or intention. His Mixmag mix was great though.

The new Abdu Ali album Fiyah!!! i incorporates Baltimore club music and more. Sarah M Hughes does free jazz solos on a few cuts on it. I like it

Ali was included in a NY Times magazine article on Baltimore arts.

There's an awkwardly phrased at times, rave review of Abdu Ali in Quietus as well, but barely any ilm/ilx mentions (I also mentioned this on a rolling Baltimore club thread that has been barely utilized in years)

Was also gonna rec new Batu, highly, but is that just ... modern bass? Is the reconstructed sound secretly just post-bass mixed with some 4th world elements and neo-idm?

And yeah, I think that's all true, and I'm not too bothered about what it's called in 2019. For me it basically encompasses dance music outside of techno & house, although there's a tension between the hyper-specific regional scenes that end up influencing and getting embraced by (sometimes subsumed into) the larger dispersed thing.

I gather it's the audio portion of a live a/v show they've done previously and would love to see that live, but the audio's pretty good on its own

I love the new Blanck Mass album. I'm kind of surprised he doesn't have a dedicated thread by now. "No Dice" is the standout for me. It's catchy and so stylistically audacious. Makes me smile every time I hear it. I'll admit to experiencing a bit of fatigue when listening all the way through on headphones - which was the case with World Eater, too, but he's just cornered the market on whatever genre this is. When I play something new in the house, my wife likes to try to guess when it was made and she was completely stumped by this album.

caught siete catorce and debit a few weeks back in nyc; they slayed, room didnt quite do it justice but imo relatively slower industrial guachero goes a lot harder than cheesy 160bpm ebm stuff. we need more triplets in the club

on that note completely non-club oriented topdown dialetic releases are giving me life as winter descends, dubby basic channel / porter ricks vibes but much more detailed and spontaneous in a way; pseudo-diegetic club ambient
