Kind of an overrated album. I think "Steeler" or "Metal Gods" for me.

Most of the songs are good but don't reach past heights.

Not a flawless record, but oh my, the many great moments are perfect. I have never tired of Breaking the Law and Living After Midnight, but I went with Metal Gods because it's so darn heavy and it's always a highlight whenever I see Priest. Plus I love the story about how they used a drawer full of cutlery to create the marching sound effect.

Went for "Living After Midnight" because "Breaking the Law" is gonna run away with this.

was gonna say, there are like six Priest albums I'd reach for before this one. That said, I'll probably vote "Steeler"

Prolly "Metal Gods." (Is that the one with the marching sounds? I saw the Classic Albums doc, and they said they did that by shaking the silverware drawer, which was in Ringo's house/studio!).

"Metal Gods", though every month or so, doing some minor rule infraction triggers "Breaking the law! Breaking the law!" in my head.

yo so i listened to this for the first time this afternoon while lifting heavy weights

thoughts:

it's very good! not every track hits but the highs are incredible. i love the sound of the thing. great room sound, it sounds very "live".

"living after midnight" - right, the disco track. it's great.

"metal gods" - very sick song.

"the rage" is just incredible! WOW! that solo is unreal, seriously one of the best i've ever heard. HUGE riff and i love the cod reggae influence. NO VOTES?!?!? wtf.

it's a shame that i've waited so long to listen to judas priest. rob halford being a tough bear-ish homo magnifies my adoration.

His first book, Confess, is incredible. He really doesn't hold back sharing details of his life in the closet and how his mental health suffered navigating his sexuality in a closed off intolerant society.

"The Rage" is fantastic. Very different for them, not just because it has an actual bassline. It's definitely one of my favs on the album. Great vocal from Rob.

I hate "United" and "Grinder" is lazy, but most everything else slaps.

Seeing them tomorrow...with my mother.
