discussing this at a record club tonight--prob should've made this poll last week but what can you do.

overall, the grooves are excellent and the drums are immaculately recorded. you can hear all 1000 pieces in Terry's drumkit. the weakness is the vocals, but listen long enough and they become kinda charming. choosing between windows, u.s. drag, and noticeable one.

the singles from this were singles for a reason - they are all great! dunno about the rest of it

Are y'all aware that Warren Cuccurullo's coming out with a new album called Missing Person next month? I just saw the news this morning while catching up on FB. Here's the video he posted on his official FB page as a preview of said album:

I once had a friend email to ask if the crazy rhythmic cymbal pattern toward the end of Destination Unknown was the inspiration for or sampled by Schoolly D's "PSK" (later sampled in Siouxsie's Kiss Them for Me, iirc.). I didn't think so, but I did find this clip of Terry playing it, and it's a downright impossible thing to pull off unless you have his mutant chops. You can see him do it around the 2:33 mark here:

Even gets a close up at 2:39 and beyond!

Man, Terry on "US Drag" in this set:

that US festival was maybe my favorite musical weekend in my life- divinyls, english beat, the clash, pretenders, bowie

is that some sort of first generation IEM in Dale's right ear?

Pretty sure it's what she uses to communicate with her home planet.

Damn I missed this - I would have voted for Destination or Windows. Fantastic LA album

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Monday, 8 July 2019 14:34 (six years ago)

Not a huge turnout, but still surprised Words got shut out. That was their first radio hit, as I recall.

henry s, Monday, 8 July 2019 17:06 (six years ago)

chalk it up to low turnout.. and also to "destination unknown" is a monster and would have got my vote if i'd seen this

Dale Bozzio invented Lady Gaga. In fact, on Noticeable One she pretty much IS Lady Gaga...

henry s, Monday, 8 July 2019 20:30 (six years ago)

two years pass...

Based on # of votes, I’d say this album is waaay under appreciated here…Including by me. I only listened to the whole thing for the first time today and damn does it overdeliver on expectations. would still prob vote for the winner but could make a case for at least a couple others.

also had no idea about the band’s zappa connection until a coworker mentioned it.
