Someone slaughter whoever does those fuckin Rockapella tracks

You know what I mean. When you download an acapella and you think 'whoop, i'll make a nifty boot' and then you hear it and it's all fat guys huffin and puffin doing a disgusting version of the orginal music. They shouldn't even be allowed to use this 'apella' suffix because there's instruments used! Filthy slap bass and tinny snares! Or actually it might not be. It might be their voices doing a fine impression of a slap bass. But it's still horrible. I thought there was some good in all styles of music but I'm certain that Rockapella is out and out wrong and should be stopped. Or at least called something that doesn't interfere with the high art that is bootmaking. ahem.

I just downloaded 'no diggity' done like this and it pissed me off because I had great plans for it (over a cut-up of Perry Como's 'hot diggity') but now its all gone to shit and it's Rockapella's fault and I need to vent. If anyone can give me a proper acapella of it then I'll be mighty grateful.

you should hear the rockapella of 'come on eileen' - fuckin tragic. the 'eye of the tiger' one is quiet funny tho - especially the bit at the end where someone shouts 'Aaaaaadrrrriaaaaaan'

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 16:43 (twenty-three years ago)

hehe yeah, that 'Aaaaaadrrrriaaaaaan' is pretty damn funny but in no way does it justify the wads and wads of crappy rockapellas out there. Does anyone know who does these? I'd like to see a picture of those responsible. I'm imagining the ringleader as this scrawny little guy with a big nose, surrounded by his army of fat bald red-cheeked huffers.

Ian SPACK (Ian SPACK), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 16:57 (twenty-three years ago)

um, ian, hate to say this, but isn't what you just described the essence of ULTRASPACK?

slit magnet, Tuesday, 19 November 2002 16:58 (twenty-three years ago)

No! Only the bootleg side of ULTRASPACK anyway and that ain't rrreal. (go on kids, check out ULTRASPACK on Soulseek). Also, ULTRASPACK aren't fat and blustery.

s magnet, Tuesday, 19 November 2002 17:01 (twenty-three years ago)

If ULTRASPACK were fat and blustery we'd just be the Macc Lads.

Ian SPACK (Ian SPACK), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 17:03 (twenty-three years ago)

were macc lads ironic?

s magnet, Tuesday, 19 November 2002 17:08 (twenty-three years ago)

No and neither are we, fuckhead.

Ian SPACK (Ian SPACK), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 17:09 (twenty-three years ago)

'now he's a poof' = clazzic

slit magnet, Tuesday, 19 November 2002 17:09 (twenty-three years ago)

ULTRASPACK taking the role of 'poof'? I like it!

Ian SPACK (Ian SPACK), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 17:14 (twenty-three years ago)

ULTRASPACK = every down-trodden minority, every victim, everyone who had a heart

Ian SPACK (Ian SPACK), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 17:16 (twenty-three years ago)

slit magnet, Tuesday, 19 November 2002 17:18 (twenty-three years ago)

It's in the offing. Though I am changing my name to Ian Hindley (Hindley = town of residence) if that's any consolation.

Ian SPACK (Ian SPACK), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 17:19 (twenty-three years ago)

"have you penned a paen to myra hindely yet?"

Already beaten to it by Chris Morris...

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 19 November 2002 19:04 (twenty-three years ago)

Are you, like, talking about those guys from the "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego" show?

Dan I., Tuesday, 19 November 2002 19:47 (twenty-three years ago)

If anyone has an acapella of Ass'n'Titties I would be verrrrry grateful. Win my eternal love! Though I promise not to act on it or anything scary like that.

(I am not strictly bootlegging so it doesn't even need to be the original vocal track, it's just somehow being female, English and white isn't very useful for reconstructing booty bass MCing. By tomorrow I will probably be bored of this misguided idea anyway...)

Rebecca (reb), Thursday, 21 November 2002 21:07 (twenty-three years ago)

I used to watch Carmen Sandiego... I thought they were good.. but then again I was 4...

Curtis Stephens, Thursday, 21 November 2002 21:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 21 November 2002 21:32 (twenty-three years ago)

You and me both Dan...you ever go to the counter at a drug store and read the "You must be born before this date to get cigarettes" thing? I sometimes get so sad when I read that.

Ally (mlescaut), Thursday, 21 November 2002 21:38 (twenty-three years ago)

*giggles*

Curtis Stephens, Thursday, 21 November 2002 21:44 (twenty-three years ago)

I refuse to have Dan and Ally get all mopey about their age in my presence. You young punks.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 21 November 2002 21:48 (twenty-three years ago)

Where is the World is San Diego California?

Helltime Producto (Pavlik), Thursday, 21 November 2002 22:23 (twenty-three years ago)

I meant "In the world", god I fucking suck. Jesus.

Helltime Producto (Pavlik), Friday, 22 November 2002 00:13 (twenty-three years ago)

GOD DAMN I'M OLD.

Andrew (enneff), Friday, 22 November 2002 00:17 (twenty-three years ago)

one month passes...
The people responsible for those tracks aren't Rockapella, they're fucktarded college a cappella groups ruining good songs and hoping to be noticed by labeling their songs as done by Rockapella, the fairly well known, truly good (and also a cappella) group that was on Carmen Sandiego (and is still around, putting out albums and touring).

, Saturday, 4 January 2003 00:58 (twenty-three years ago)

I have deep issues with describing Rockapella as "truly good", but besides that you're OTM.
