hello all...
i'm trying to get a mix together with a specific and consistent feel to it but i'm short on track ideas...
the sound i'm going for is like the sort of electronic yet organically dark music ancient robots that used a lot of oil would make... machines with vacuum tubes and springs, not transistors... you know? preferably, though, they'll have vocals; maybe a vocoder or two... a couple instrumentals are ok, maybe i'll throw on 'boards of canada - concourse'... i just don't know
so far i've got:

felix kubin & pia burnette - time accidently kill
takako minekawa & dymaxion - report on investigation

after that i'm stumped
i was thinking maybe 'piano magic - i am the sub-librarian'... 'múm - blai hnotturinn 9' or 'buffalo daughter - jellyfish blues'... 'aluminum group - blur in your vision'? maybe some octant?? dat politics??

ideas anyone?
am i being too vague?
this is definitely night-time music
where's momus?? i'll bet he's got something up his sleeve...

Scorn. Also C17H19NO3. That is kind of thick murky bass, slow dread type stuff.

Parts of the recent Broken Spindles album by the guy from The Faint suggest a power plant run amok. See also Pan Sonic's Vakio. Or Suicide? Six Finger Satellite?

Artists, no track titles, that's your job:

Ladytron. Mouse on Mars. Nonplace Urban Field. James Bong. Skylab. Curd Duca. Kraftwelt. Lithops. Tarwater. Bisk. Holosud. I-F.

OK, I'm stuck.

Closer Musik - Maria
Bola - Veronex Cypher
Miho Hatori - Nightlight
Air - Sex Born Poison
Takako Minekawa - Black Forest
Ms. John Soda - Done Twice
Bjork - Crave (Odd Duck Mix)
Bonnie Pink - Sleeping Chjild ["the generations of virgin microbes" Mix]
Mri^3 - Painkiller
Ulrich Schnauss - Molfsee

Those are least a few different ways I can imagine the sound you described. It sounds good, post a track listing if you ever figure it out.

Also the Coil remix of nin: Closer (precursor).

Capitol K, anything off Island Row especially "Pillow".
Amon Tobin's "Piranha Breaks" will do nicely too, as would a fair bit off his spanking new album, the name of which momentarily escapes me.

for screwloose meanderings, Sutekh's "Slow Toy Medley" and Carlos Zingaro's "Out of Balance" ... they might make good interludes.

Forbidden Planet Soundtrack?

along those lines... some joe meek... from "I Hear a New World: An Outer Space Music Fantasy"...

sagan (Blevin Blectum, Lesser, Ryan Junell)...they use found sounds and so on... there might be some useful clips of sprinklers turning into beats...

oh... add n to fu(x)a.... the EP they put out... the 2nd track is 13 minutes long... but along the takako minekawa + dymaxion lines... this'll delight...

glorious mechanikal robot boogie drone.

oh... and nonplace urban field's "seismic summer"... robot beach chair beats with a space lift off at the end.
