I've always wondered whether having an artist name at the start of the alphabet has any influence on sales, in terms of casual buyers / elderly relatives and the like just picking the first thing they see on the racks / from a list and thats the record they have bought for the year.

Not saying there is any evidence in that at all, but 26/60 of the entries on that list have band names, or forenames and surnames that start with A-E, which seems quite a high percentage?
