Is this a complete list?

Irae Louvin (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 14 November 2019 12:57 (five years ago)

Far from it.

'Skills' Wallace (Tom D.), Thursday, 14 November 2019 12:58 (five years ago)

Voted Mindless Child of Motherhood.

'Skills' Wallace (Tom D.), Thursday, 14 November 2019 12:59 (five years ago)

... unless Ray wrote that one.

Srsly, Mindless Child of Motherhood

PaulTMA, Thursday, 14 November 2019 13:13 (five years ago)

I guess "strangers" might be my the pick from this list, but would vote for "Creeping Jean" if it was here, not just my fav Dave song but one of my fav kinks songs period.

Srsly, Mindless Child of Motherhood

Thirded. Was it a co-write?

Irae Louvin (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 14 November 2019 13:21 (five years ago)

Also, was Brst where Rasa Davies was born?

Irae Louvin (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 14 November 2019 13:28 (five years ago)

Sad and strange that his songs went from, in the '60s and '70s, being nearly as good as anything Ray was coming up with to, in the '80s and '90s, throwaway filler. When I saw them in '93, there was a depressingly steady stream of audience members going to the bathroom/getting a beer during Dave's lone solo spot, for which Ray left the stage. To be fair, it wasn't a good song -- one of the lesser ones from Phobia, which is mostly lesser songs anyway.

Voted "Strangers."

Hey, welcome back, it’s been a while.

no “funny face” either ? weird

budo jeru, Friday, 15 November 2019 05:23 (five years ago)

Based on a broken Wikipedia page.

Irae Louvin (James Redd and the Blecchs), Friday, 15 November 2019 07:39 (five years ago)

I *might* have voted Mindless Child had it been here. As it is, I have no problem voting Strangers. Such a perfect song.

screator, Friday, 15 November 2019 22:12 (five years ago)

Another likely lad that went missing on the ferry from Brst:
“This Man He Weeps Tonight”

Was also going mention “Groovy Movies,” but that seems to be a Ray composition.

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

Voted "Strangers", the ultimate philosophical-in-your-cups, "mate i really love you. I fuckin hate you but I really love you" song. Its sentiments will be retracted the next day, but both will be suspicious that they were really meant.

Well-intended but ultimately terrible poll, but just wanted to post this as well:

"Susannah" was one of my first singles, so that.

Mark G, Tuesday, 19 November 2019 07:32 (five years ago)

Living On A Thin Line gets my vote. Was the undercurrent (and least-likely stripper song ever) for a very good Sopranos episode.

henry s, Tuesday, 19 November 2019 15:33 (five years ago)

Not sure where you hang out, but here in north Jersey all the strippers go nuts for mid 80s Kinks songs :)

kornrulez6969, Tuesday, 19 November 2019 16:33 (five years ago)

save it for the "Breast Dave Davis song" poll

“Lincoln County” was robbed.

Irae Louvin (James Redd and the Blecchs), Wednesday, 20 November 2019 00:48 (five years ago)

A number of Dave's tunes have this quality of not quite wanting to resolve, or wanting to resolve into the next part of the song, so that they end up circulating in your head, or mine anyway, for days on end. Insidious.

screator, Wednesday, 20 November 2019 01:35 (five years ago)

five months pass...

Dave's having a nice Twitter row with Steven Van Zandt, who apparently tweeted something that gave credit to Link Wray for inventing metal or hard rock (not exactly sure since the original tweet's been deleted). Dave says he himself invented heavy rock with his barre chords and he never heard Link Wray till the 1980s.
