Surprised there was no thread about my close friend, the recording artist Post Malone.

I dislike the moroseness of so much contemporary hip hop, and this guy is part of that, but he’s got a gift for hooks.

Any relation to Karl?

Being quite disconnected from the pop world I had never really heard about him, except "Sunflower" which I found great, but his latest album is surprisingly good.
Very catchy songs, nice production.
It's been a while since I4ve enjoyed a pop male singer.

i think people just look at the combination of his skin tone and commercial success and decide "wow pop hooks & melodies!!" even tho his many of his 'pop hooks' are stagnant crap like the chorus to "better now"

(i do like "sunflower" tho)

"Sunflower" is great

Of course a lot of it is stagnant crap, he’s post malone.

But sometimes he does find a hook and that’s the best thing he does.

Haven't spent much time with the new one, but I love Psycho and Rich & Sad from the last one. The repetitive hooks generally don't bother me because I think he uses pretty chords and makes good production choices, but Better Now is definitely "stagnant crap" xp.

Somehow « Circles » makes me think of a Future Islands track. It’s a pretty track.

AlXTC from Paris, Monday, 16 December 2019 21:01 (five years ago)

he always finds a hook, his problem is that he always just incessantly repeats that one hook over and over again. variation isn't a word in his vocabulary.

sunflower is good, but it feels like he got of his melodic inspiration from swae lee.

I hated "Rockstar" but those covers are remarkably faithful and he started with my favourite album track.

is anyone else fucking with his new music? i feel like we talked about this somewhere but maybe i’m making that up. anyway “mourning” is incredible, even better than “chemical” which i also loved. he’s apparently making a “rock” album & based on those two songs i’m saying something i never thought i would, which is that i’m really looking forward to a post malone album

This dork is popping up on more songs than Phoebe Bridgers.

He’s becoming as culturally ubiquitous as the Rock. I saw him in a commercial and in the new Jack Black Xmas movie

he's also in one of those FanDuel type commercials
