can't help feel whoever wrote the phrase "ketamine-charged" doesn't understand how ket works

Bojo Rabid (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 28 December 2019 15:41 (five years ago)

I thought you joking about Sports Team. lol, it's not like they've got a rep to protect

calzino, Saturday, 28 December 2019 15:53 (five years ago)

The Bossy Love album is terrific.

Not having Arlo Parks on the list is a big oversight.

Dan Worsley, Saturday, 28 December 2019 16:07 (five years ago)

My first thought was 'these are all made up - spoof list', which is the equivalent of saying young people's music all sounds the same. So it's probably time for the locked room, whisky and revolver. So long.

Sidhu Moose Wala put out a legit banger earlier this year. I mean this is undeniable:

And I fucking loved this Lady Lykez track from the summer.

Is this outtakes from the “come up with the most boring band name” thread

Swilling Ambergris, Esq. (silby), Saturday, 28 December 2019 18:03 (five years ago)

“Jack Name”???

Swilling Ambergris, Esq. (silby), Saturday, 28 December 2019 18:03 (five years ago)

new artist beatrice dillon

A hyperlocal phenomenon in their native Bradford, Bad Boy Chiller Crew make ridiculously enjoyable bassline house anthems topped with dextrous patter about beer, designer clothes and *checks notes* the excellence of an obscure Teesside car wash called Billy’s.

I'm so excited for the donk revival that I'm voting for this without even having listened to it.

Matt DC, Saturday, 28 December 2019 18:05 (five years ago)

sports team are the worst xunts going

tony blair electric chair (||||||||), Saturday, 28 December 2019 20:07 (five years ago)

ciderpress, Saturday, 28 December 2019 20:41 (five years ago)

I do plan to check the Bossy Love album out but thought it was interesting that the blurb failed to mention that the singer was the front woman of Operator Please.

monotony, Saturday, 28 December 2019 20:58 (five years ago)

I initially read Galen Tipton as Glenn Tipton and thought: "WTF?"

does it look like i'm here (jon123), Tuesday, 31 December 2019 10:28 (five years ago)

Chippy Nonstop or gtfo.

Zing keeps crashing when I try and vote for Shygirl, I call a fix

bingo dabber acid, Tuesday, 31 December 2019 10:58 (five years ago)

Bloody love Shygirl. I'm finally old enough to feel comfortable thinking a fair wedge of these band names are utter shite.

lilcraigyboi (Craigo Boingo), Tuesday, 31 December 2019 15:06 (five years ago)

I went with Asagraum because it's the only one I know (aside from Sports Team, whose first LP is bound to become ILM's AOTY).

The 100 gecs album sounds like something young people made just so they could laugh at desperate old music critics trying to seem cool by praising it.

^ my first mis-post of the year, please accept my heartfelt apologies

breastcrawl, Wednesday, 1 January 2020 14:48 (five years ago)

Aw, I liked the spider web emoji.

How did I miss L Devine... she was so prominently placed, 45th in the list

Re: dismissing the band names - I like how people are assuming the problem is age, rather than the slog of seeing 50 obscure artists with no context. And possibly because the Guardian doesn't want to choose anything that sounds too interesting. (Reading it on and off for years, I honestly don't think I've ever discovered any music I liked from a Guardian/Observer recommendation)
