The extent of Brian Wilson's infirmity at the time was revealed to me the other day when I saw a Johnny Carson monologue and thought, 'no, Brian, I don't think he's such a natural guy, if I'm being real honest'.

'Ding Dang' is effing great, for sure.

I love the farty synths on this thing. It's one of my favorite sounds in the universe.

I get voting "The Night Was So Young." Has some amazing group vocals. "Airplane" might be my favorite, though.

Just love the image of someone gleefully doing this like it's a party and everyone around them being completely annoyed by the honking idiot.

I vaguely remember hearing as a kid that one of the Beach Boys had died via unspecified means and judging solely by the photo on the back of the album sleeve I just assumed it was Brian because he looked about twenty years older than everyone else.

That poster is hilarious. I assume a desperate ad exec, having procrastinated on the campaign until the morning when he was meant to present to Reprise, just snuck a copy of the album into that shot and swiped the camera from Kathy's husband immediately after he clicked the shutter.

I know Christgau loved this...it went right past me many years ago; not sure if I'd feel differently today.

Used to love this at the height of my BBs obsession. Happened to listen to it again two days ago apropos of nothing, and ummm... not quite sure what I liked about it tbh.
