Basic Plumbing was the project of the late Patrick Doyle (Veronica Falls). Proceeds from this record go to the LA LGBT Center + CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably)

From last year, but I only just discovered it’s existence, but the rocketship album from last year is pretty fantastic. Could be a case of it exceeding low or even no expectations but it’s just kinda great. Maybe if I don’t pay attention an Aislers Set album will appear this year.

via breastcrawl in the afro thread, where i would rather it didn't lie unnoticed.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEI0U55rM-Ii feel like this should hit a lot of ILM's pop tastes dead-on. it certainly got me!

― devvvine, Thursday, 23 April 2020 18:24 (five years ago)

I cannot stop playing this album:

It wasn't an instant connection ... first listen I turned it off halfway through. But by my fifth listen I liked it a lot and now I'm on listen #10ish and I absolutely love it. Don't give up on it, is what I'm sayin'.
Dude dips his toes into twang and noisy (but cuddly) punk, however most songs generally stick to sweet, tender, catchy indie-pop.

Idk where else to post this, but a friend of mine (Joe W0ng) released his debut solo album and it's pretty epic, sort of symphonic folk/pop, liyl the Zombies and Flaming Lips? Guest spots from Mary Timony (who produced), Steven Drozd, Mary Lattimore, etc.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xw3HRXtcHCk

exploding flowers are definitely a good entry to this thread, sugary guitar pop that claims bell/chilton and flying nun records as influences.
the whole album is worth checking out, but this is my fav: https://explodingflowers.bandcamp.com/track/mirror-to-mirror-face-to-face

Virtually unknown Vancouver singer, I was blindsided by this song and then the album followed suit. Is it indie? It's Kathleen Edward/Jennifer Castle/Weather Station (but mostly reminds me of that secretest of Canadian treasures, Mia Sheard)

No rolling 2020 goth so this may be the best bet. New Soft Kill came out today. Have not listened all the way through but sounds great so far. Saw them live a year or so and thought it was great. Never really see them mentioned on here.
