american bradass (BradNelson), Saturday, 15 February 2020 02:10 (six years ago)

I know the top three are likely to be the three from the first EP but damn, everything they added to their rep to make a full LP is just ... so good.

🚶‍♂️💨 (Eric H.), Saturday, 15 February 2020 02:27 (six years ago)

'native land' has made me weep so that one

In The Meantime, Native Land, and gold old Hey are the ones I return to the most.

Also love Carry On and Mister Chameleon and all the other songs

Trying to decide between Hey and Native Land.

kitchen person, Saturday, 15 February 2020 03:18 (six years ago)

It’s gonna be either Carry On or Native Land for me — leaning towards the latter

winters (josh), Saturday, 15 February 2020 03:31 (six years ago)

Love these ladiez

calstars, Saturday, 15 February 2020 04:24 (six years ago)

can’t go past “hey (extended mix)”

“oh please” or “love song” would be runners up

For me, it's "The Greatest" vs. "Love Song"

🚶‍♂️💨 (Eric H.), Saturday, 15 February 2020 14:28 (six years ago)

They saved the best for the last, Native Land it is.

Tuomas, Saturday, 15 February 2020 15:10 (six years ago)

Tuomas otm. "Native Land" it is.

also probably 'native land, but this is an impossible task.

Nourry, Saturday, 15 February 2020 15:39 (six years ago)

Hey or Native Land. Probably the former but I'm going to luxuriate in deciding.

Ngolo Cantwell (Chinaski), Saturday, 15 February 2020 15:42 (six years ago)

mirroring the general sentiments here in that it's between 'hey' and 'native land.'

voting 'hey', but it's actually a tie.

Totally different head. Totally. (Austin), Saturday, 15 February 2020 17:33 (six years ago)

I'm looking over the tracklist and drooling

went with The Greatest

josh az (2011nostalgia), Saturday, 15 February 2020 20:10 (six years ago)

love them all but "Native Land" is on another level

geoffreyess, Saturday, 15 February 2020 22:00 (six years ago)

I do really like this album as a whole, but still didn't hesitate in voting for The Greatest

Wuhan!! Got You All in Check (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Saturday, 15 February 2020 22:05 (six years ago)

holy hell the guitar in "Oh Please!"

I'm falling in love again w/my favorite album of 2016.

I just listened to this a couple of weeks ago and it really is astonishing how perfect this whole record is. Wonder if we'll ever get a follow-up?

Love seeing that you guys still play & thrilled you hear our love of gaming in our music😊 #moogfest2017 I gave a workshop on how the classic consoles influenced the soundscape of the ‘We Are KING’ album. We approached each song like a level in one of the classic games (+) pic.twitter.com/IxQL4lyiPb

also said they're working on a new album, hopefully it'll be out this year then

ufo, Sunday, 16 February 2020 06:14 (six years ago)

i think "oh please" just beats out "hey"

ufo, Sunday, 16 February 2020 10:12 (six years ago)

I had to go with "In the Meantime", my entry point, which I listened to hundreds of time before the album came out. I also really love "The Right One", "The Greatest", "Red Eye", and "Native Land" (which is probably my next choice).

beard papa, Tuesday, 18 February 2020 21:03 (six years ago)

went with the bravest famous maven in my prime

carry on

Bstep, Wednesday, 4 March 2020 00:03 (five years ago)

While I'll be sad if "The Greatest" doesn't get any votes, it has to be "Love Story" for me at this point in my life.

crusty but malignant (Eric H.), Wednesday, 4 March 2020 00:16 (five years ago)

("Love Song," I meant.)

crusty but malignant (Eric H.), Wednesday, 4 March 2020 00:16 (five years ago)

didn't see any mentions of mister chameleon, so that was my vote. prob not my actual favorite, but it was my gateway into their wonderful world, so im comfortable with the choice.

ooga booga-ing for the bourgeoisie (voodoo chili), Wednesday, 4 March 2020 00:21 (five years ago)

Wish “The Right One” could’ve gotten a vote too. Fantastic opener.

crusty but malignant (Eric H.), Thursday, 5 March 2020 00:19 (five years ago)

Love Song wasn't my vote but that opening line in it ("Not far / not far from here")... oh man it just stirs up so much emotion in me. I

wanna thank ILX for introducing me to this album via the collective freakout on some thread I can't find right now. I don't know shit about R&B but this album is special. there's like this magic to it, idk how else to describe it. What's Going On has it, a lot of Stevie stuff has it, "Don't Stop Till You Get Enough" has it, this whole album has it. it's like...slightly unreal. the songs don't even feel like real songs. its more like they're just morphing around. like that ending crystalline part on "Hey". who does stuff like that? a lot of "wait does anyone else hear this" bits but then I remember the 500 post thread elsewhere. even the cover is super cool. very graphic design is my passion vibe to it until you really look and see how pretty it is.

frogbs, Saturday, 4 June 2022 03:30 (three years ago)

"limpid" is a word I seldom use, to paraphrase John Prine.
