Elvis's backcatalogue would suggest that he is a cash cow... "Cash Cows generate more more than is invested in them. So keep them in your portfolio of products for the time being"...there is relatively little expenditure needed to produce/market elvis, therefore he is still a profitable product.

I find it useful to distinguish the dead elvis from the 'ELVIS' that just won't stay down, the cultural equivalent of Japanese knotweed, ubiquitous and irrepressible. In my opinion the guy that died in the seventies isn't as irrelevant for those into 'ELVIS' - he didn't change with the times.
