Penis Envy and Christ – The Album are both lovely.
Going with our lord and savior.

Loud guitars shit all over "Bette Davis Eyes" (NYCNative), Sunday, 5 April 2020 03:52 (five years ago)

will need a relisten but iirc: Penis Envy by an inch or two

brechtian social distancing (Simon H.), Sunday, 5 April 2020 04:02 (five years ago)

Most likely Penis Envy but there's so much good stuff.

Sund4r, Sunday, 5 April 2020 04:11 (five years ago)

how is Yes Sir, I Will?

Bo Johnson Coviddied (Neanderthal), Thursday, 9 April 2020 04:20 (five years ago)

It's.. Interesting.

Mark G, Thursday, 9 April 2020 07:05 (five years ago)

Penis Envy is actually really good.

Stations, I voted for, is the one.

I had Feeding and Christ for ever, Christ has its moments but the whole grand package didn't work and they were better being swift and reactive.

I did get the cd reissues, I did notice that Steve didn't write that much after the first one, and Penny took over the writing to a greater extent, which is ironic..

Penis Envy. They're all great, but it's the one I listen to most.

Penis Envy and The Feeding of the 5000 are the ones I come back to the most

Did you guys know about this?

Basically, all the stems from the "Feeding of the 5000" album for you to remix etc, send it to them, and they put it on the forthcoming album.

Closing date is Aug 1st. Apparently they started this late last year.

Mark G, Friday, 26 June 2020 21:18 (four years ago)

Apologies for being obtuse but where do you download the stems?

That's a recipe for anarchy.

By the way, I saw Penny Rimbaud 'playing' in some absolutely abysmal improv thing earlier this year (or maybe last year).

Future England Captain (Tom D.), Friday, 26 June 2020 21:43 (four years ago)

they released a single already:

https://www.discogs.com/Crass-Normal-Never-Was/release/15500038

when I first saw I was like WTAF fuck off, but the idea isn't terrible, I suppose

I don't have a problem with Steve Ignorant playing Crass songs live, at all, and I may go and see him do it at some point, just don't call it Crass, which he doesn't

chipstick rebellion (Colonel Poo), Friday, 26 June 2020 21:44 (four years ago)

I think it's funny, experimental grime/dub/blah blah producers tearing their hair out trying to re-edit Crass onto a strict tempo map in their cracked versions of Fruity Loops Studio. I bet they mostly just use the vocals.

Maresn3st, Friday, 26 June 2020 21:50 (four years ago)

They do say "Do what you will, put it out if you like as long as you tell us" so I guess it's OK. And it's been on a while so I guess it's cool

Mark G, Friday, 26 June 2020 21:52 (four years ago)

(I guess I could realise my ambition to record "Do you owe me a tenner?")

Mark G, Friday, 26 June 2020 21:54 (four years ago)

If enough ppl cared we could do an ILX comp, but I doubt it.

Maresn3st, Friday, 26 June 2020 22:09 (four years ago)

do they owe us an FPing

I hear that sometimes Satan wants to defund police (Neanderthal), Friday, 26 June 2020 22:29 (four years ago)

Ha.

I doubt it also.

Rudimentary, of course.

Sonny Shamrock (Tom D.), Saturday, 1 August 2020 00:32 (four years ago)

lot of the punk received wisdom about these guys being better conceptually/lyrically/politically than musically is v backwards

the state is bad (Left), Saturday, 1 August 2020 12:49 (four years ago)

"Feeding" and "Stations" are the punk albums. I don't think Steve Ignorant wrote much after "Feeding", or anything post "Stations"

"Penis Envy" should be held alongside the slits etc, even if much was written by Penny Rimbaud.

"Christ: The Album" was the big folly in both senses of the word, their "Rattle and Hum"

After that, it got a bit jazz.

Meanwhile, the Live band were doing the punk gigs..

There's more to their story, obv...
