The ones that did the cover of "montego bay"? I quite liked that when I was 12.

two years pass...
aaah.. Amazulu were SO COOL to my 9 year-old ears. Now my ears are older, "Exciteable" still sounds fine.

"Too good to be forgotten" isn't bad either. Almost as good as the original

Bay-bee you're so ex-ci-ta-ble
I don't care if you get me in-to tru-ble

Oh, bouncy bouncy happy lovely singy Amazulu girls. Wherever did you go? And won't you come back now? The world needs more silly happiness.

Went off them after the first single, which was a cover version of "Can't get no Giro, working in a bar in Cairo" (late 1970s pop/reggae track, much played on Radio 2 for some strange reason), backed with the impeccably right-on "Greenham Time". But then Amazulu themselves were impeccably right-on. There were loads of them to start with, but with every sold-out-to-the-man cover version that subsequently came out, they lost more and more members. I think there were only three of them left by the bitter end.

You take a look and you say I'm in
I'm drowning in adrenalin
I hang on 'cause I can't let go
One look at you and I can't say no

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 09:41 (twenty years ago)

I always thought it was "Take a look at the state I'm in".. Which is a BETTER LYRIC because it goes with the next line better.

I just thought it was about being around someone who was very excitable. You have a very naughty mind, Mr. Grout.

hobart paving (hobart paving), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 09:45 (twenty years ago)

xpost: Excitable was an original, but Too Good To Be Forgotten, Montego Bay and Mony Mony were three covers in a row....

mike t-diva (mike t-diva), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 10:12 (twenty years ago)
