Odd genres

I search AMG a lot, and love going through all the different genre's and reading the genre descriptions, and such. And have found some odd ones. My favorite thus far is "Progressive bluegrass", I also enjoy "Psychobilly" (however I think psychobilly actually has a pretty big following).

...YOUR TURNS.

I've heard the term "jazzgrassical" quite a few times in regards to this movement of folks like Edgar Meyer and Bela Fleck and their colabs with folks like YoYo Ma.

i want to hear some merenhouse.

(i invented a new game at school yesterday. you have to try to link people using the related artists section. you can't pick anything else but the related artists stuff. it can be roots & influences or people they've worked with but it has to be in that section. the scoring system hasn't been worked out yet. it's actually more fun to play alone.

dave mathews 2 sex pistols:

dave mathews -> the wallflowers -> the clash -> the damned -> sex pistols

u-roy 2 destiny's child:

u-roy -> lee 'scratch' perry -> frank zappa -> devo -> soft cell -> pet shop boys -> dusty springfield -> the supremes -> the shirelles
-> the shangri-las -> the ramones -> phil spector -> sonny and cher
-> the beatles -> the hollies -> the mamas and the papas -> the beach boys -> the high llamas -> burt bacharach -> portishead -> bjork -> madonna -> mariah carey -> tlc -> destiny's child!

wow! i didn't think i was going to be able to do that one. bjork to madonna was the big breakthrough on that one.)

ambient metal = earth

A few years ago Spinoza R. Prozak advocated the use of this term for everything in the drone-realm of metal (which included doom/sludge bands like Earth/Khanate/Thergothon/Esoteric as well as Burzum/Summoning). It never really caught on though...

Cowpunk, Aboriginal Rock, Junkanoo... And there's always Queercore.

I once tried to see how far back I could go with "Roots and Influences"... I think it was close to the 1200s or something

The Relapse band Origin have been described as Corecore. I'm guessing that has something to do with the earth's core? Cuz they are so deep and heavy. Or maybe the core of an apple cuz they are so wormy and rotten. I haven't really figured it out, but I love that genre name.

progressive bluegrass, by the way, is the standard name for most of the bluegrass coming out in the recent past: allison krauss, et al. it's only progressive in relation to traditional bluegrass, which is notoriously unchanging.

I'd really like to hear some "noveltycore".
