oh man.

I could vote for almost anything here but it will probably come down to "grow up" or "still into you" or "proof".

or "daydreaming" or "ain't it fun" or "part ii" or "anklebiters".

fuck.

i cannot decide between "grow up" and "proof" and it's tearing me apart

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Tuesday, 15 September 2020 23:54 (four years ago)

I miss karaoke because, as predictable as the response is, I loved howling "Ain't No Fun."

Still the best album of 2013.

easily Part Ii for me, lots of gems tho obviously

The stretch from "Ain't It Fun" to "Hate to See Your Heart Break," my god

I feel like, interludes aside, "now" is the only track that's clearly weaker here. "last hope" is a bit self-consciously portentous but it works IMO. "be alone" is probably the most underrated track?

Tim F, Tuesday, 15 September 2020 23:58 (four years ago)

might rank this later to make myself mad

I encouraged this poll only because I need to rescreen

Grow Up, Ain't It Fun and Hate To See Your Heart Break are all contenders but I might have to go for (One Of Those) Crazy Girls. It was the song that made me a fan.

Fast In My Car and Future are the only two of the main songs that I've never fully fallen for.

kitchen person, Wednesday, 16 September 2020 00:46 (four years ago)

future isn't anyone's go-to but you gotta admire the ambition to go full mogwai

when i listen to this album stoned "future" is my favorite track

A couple of times I have started the album with Grow Up and it works well.

kitchen person, Wednesday, 16 September 2020 01:00 (four years ago)

I admit I still prefer After Laughter by a fair bit, just for the sheer consistency, and the audacious, possibly total absence of love songs

unpaid intern at the darvo institute (Simon H.), Wednesday, 16 September 2020 01:03 (four years ago)

Same. A rare band who got better with each album.

kitchen person, Wednesday, 16 September 2020 01:16 (four years ago)

great album. "ain't it fun" was simultaneously such a thrill and gutpunch that i'm tempted to vote for it immediately but there are plenty of other tracks i know i should not overlook. gonna give it another listen or two before voting

dyl, Wednesday, 16 September 2020 03:28 (four years ago)

dang, pulled the trigger for “still into you” but i forgot how much i love “part ii”

voted "still into you" cause it's one of those songs that gets stuck in my head every few months or so

really great album

Roz, Wednesday, 16 September 2020 06:06 (four years ago)

iirc part ii was the one I loved most but will have to relisten to confirm

imago, Wednesday, 16 September 2020 06:10 (four years ago)

kinda surprised how easily this ended up being "ain't it fun" for me but there's so many other great moments on this album. "grow up", "daydreaming", "future", "crazy girls"...

ufo, Wednesday, 16 September 2020 12:50 (four years ago)

this is more about "what I want from my Paramore" and not so much "best to worst" but

part ii
last hope
ain't it fun
grow up
(one of those) crazy girls
daydreaming
be alone
fast in my car
anklebiters
hate to see your heart break
(escape route)
still into you
(native tongue)
future
now
proof

unpaid intern at the darvo institute (Simon H.), Wednesday, 16 September 2020 13:04 (four years ago)

best moment on the album: "aren't you tired of being mad at the world / won't you just admit you don't care?" backed by that sassy little string flourish.....wonderful

unpaid intern at the darvo institute (Simon H.), Wednesday, 16 September 2020 13:14 (four years ago)

I didn't see "Ain't It Fun" becoming a top ten more than a year after the album's release. Hard times!

TikTok to the (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 16 September 2020 13:15 (four years ago)

clearly my two favorite Hayley Williams lyrical modes are "withering, world-weary takedown" and "here's how I am just barely holding my shit together"

unpaid intern at the darvo institute (Simon H.), Wednesday, 16 September 2020 13:20 (four years ago)

Love this album so much, could vote for half of them at least. But over the years “Proof” has sort of risen (baking joke!) to the top for me. Hayley Williams is one of the few people whose crises of faith I find compelling.

This is impossible.

Nourry, Wednesday, 16 September 2020 19:02 (four years ago)

It's funny, looking at the album image at the top, I never thought of this as a double-album. But it makes sense that way. It has the ambition and arc for it.

a man often referred to in the news media as the Duke of Saxony (tipsy mothra), Wednesday, 16 September 2020 19:28 (four years ago)

it's canon that this is a double album

Best moments of this album are all the lyrics I misheard, mostly in “Grow Up”, such as: “I left town with a dog and my name” and “Self righteous prawns in a loser game”.

Tim F, Thursday, 17 September 2020 12:22 (four years ago)

those are both fantastic wrong lyrics

unpaid intern at the darvo institute (Simon H.), Thursday, 17 September 2020 12:37 (four years ago)

She absolutely says "prawns". Also, in the misheard lyrics category, 'I'm bringing my chicken shit back to the shore'

I love that prawns line! Gonna put it to immediate use to spice up the lyrics of a certain recent Eurovision winner by a compatriot of mine.

"Proof" has always been my fav but there are four others that I'd be perfectly happy to see win

Indexed, Monday, 21 September 2020 16:59 (four years ago)

On my first listen through the album, Last Hope was really the standout track and it has stuck with me through the years, but I really love most of it.

peace, man, Monday, 21 September 2020 17:38 (four years ago)

"Last Hope" is a big sweeping phones-in-the-air stadium anthem done about as well as you can do it.

a man often referred to in the news media as the Duke of Saxony (tipsy mothra), Monday, 21 September 2020 18:00 (four years ago)

after giving it another listen, it's still "ain't it fun" for me, tho "future" and "last hope" had me reconsidering

Hayley tore into Josh Farro the other day on twitter.

there’s a reason there are only 3 people left in @paramore. surprise, haters, it ain’t cause of me.

paramore do not condone religiously/politically dogmatic beliefs which leave our LGBTQ+ friends, fans, & family feeling abandoned and hopeless.

— hayley from Paramore 🌺 (@yelyahwilliams) October 28, 2020

and ya know, if that doesn’t jive with you, well, feel free to go to where all past members of paramore have gone which is literally anywhere else but paramore.

to paramore’s LGBTQ+ family (and @ColormeBrian i am talkin straight to you) you are full of love and you are loved.

— hayley from Paramore 🌺 (@yelyahwilliams) October 28, 2020

Context being that fans had dug up a recent facebook comment by Josh that compared homosexuality to pedophilia.
