this is boring as hell but somehow i like it better than the other two

because its based on critics rather than users?

because its a very very boring list with some bands not even best album in the list imo

this is slightly more boring than the other two lists, therefore it's the worst.

lol at Is This It being one of the best 50 albums ever, it was such a disappointment after the EP and has not aged well either.

I like Blue Lines a lot but I remember finding it weird that it was MA's check-marked album on AMG.

I'm not sure if they use critics reviews as well as year end and best of lists

I think acclaimedmusic only uses listicle results. (Critic reviews are metacritic's thing.) So if a now-dated-sounding record appeared on lots of end-of-year lists 20-25 years ago and failed to show up on any subsequent decade lists or whatever, it will likely still place really well.

Oh, that's interesting. I was struggling to imagine anyone whose favourite albums would be these albums, in this order, while I could easily do that with the RYM list.

The RYM list looks more diverse to me, at a glance (more rap, some metal, etc.); the above looks more like a "these are the albums you need to own" list for someone who's not deeply into music.

I agree. That's why I think it's hard for me to imagine this as an individual's collection.

I guess I haven't known many people who care enough about music to seek out these albums but not enough to develop an individual taste or curiosity that departs from that?

It was different from both lists but I'm capable of observing other people. Two other people have said on the RYM thread that they knew people whose tastes looked like that list fwiw.

London Calling is #10 on that list, for instance, and Is This It falls outside the top 50. Ditto Doolittle. Where was this list from?
