wanna talk about Autopsy, a band I've always liked a lot, but recently have dug up some of their lesser appreciated albums (yes, including Shitfun) and realized I love everything Reifert/Corrales puts out. this includes Abscess.

I think Mental Funeral is their apex as the writing is so fluid and eerie throughout, and Reifert's vocals probably their most dynamic and chilling. a lot of the recent EPs that started vinyl-only have been quality as well.

the guitar production is interesting as it sounds like a dusty basement where bad things happen.

i just can't stop listening to em lately and didn't wanna bury them in a general thread. i wanna talk Autopsy. so bring it here. what's your favorite? what should be destroyed...

I'm shamefully unacquainted with their music. As a general rule, I like wading into a band's discography from the debut onwards. I assume it would work just fine for these guys?

oh totally. Severed Survival is them not fully formed, but still ripping all kindsa ass. the doomier stuff was less pronounced, it was largely Death-inspired death with a few different wrinkles.
