saw her perform on the save stereogum zoom party and she was one of the highlights, def gonna check the album.

I was saying to brad separately that this reminds me a lot (and in a good way) of stuff I was listening to in the early to mid 00s. It makes me flash on the kind of songy miminal-electroclash fusion of groups like Closer Musik, Codec & Flexor, Martini Bros etc.

Electroclash has somehow come around to sounding fresh to me again (“it was never bad” yea yea) which is kind of cool

ILX’s bad boy (D-40), Wednesday, 28 October 2020 09:37 (four years ago)

I've been disappearing into mid-00s minimal and electro mixes quite a lot lately as a comfort thing so this is very much of a piece with all that. Reminds me more of Ellen Allien and other Bpitchy stuff than electroclash per se but the lyrics feel more 2020 than 2005.

In general I'm enjoying the more songful pop stuff than the techier material, I feel like I've heard the latter before.

This album's awesome. Coming on the heels of the Annie album and After Dark 3 it feels like a return of some kind, but also doesn't seem dated to me. Or maybe I just like this sound so I don't care if it's retro?

excited for this! I listened to "acts of rebellion" for the first time over the weekend and it was great, though I think the new album tracks are even more impressive

anyway, QQQQ rules

It’s interesting on how she and Kelly Lee Owens seem to have converged on the same territory with their recent material while coming from very different starting points. But yeah really looking forward to this.

Damn, I was just about to update the thread but Ivy beat me to it

fantastic record

nxd, Friday, 17 January 2025 14:55 (four months ago)

it gets a bit gothy and moody in ways I wasn't quite expecting from the prev released songs. but I am already looking forward to listening to it again, and my only fully felt criticism is that it's too short!

I found the very simple lyrical refrain on "I Want to Be Better" embarrassingly relatable

rob, Friday, 17 January 2025 15:00 (four months ago)

started it over and already think I'm upgrading my opinion quite a bit. as much as you could dismiss Abrir Monte as aphex-y pastiche I would legit listen to an entire album of that...but then the transition into Broken is so good

rob, Friday, 17 January 2025 15:07 (four months ago)

oh yeah this is fucking incredible

ivy., Friday, 17 January 2025 15:16 (four months ago)

ok but really COMBAT should be like 10 minutes longer

excellent album. QQQQ is particularly amazing. it flags a bit with IDOLS/IDK for me, but there are so many magical moments on the rest

rob, Friday, 17 January 2025 15:35 (four months ago)

cosign Broken

nxd, Friday, 17 January 2025 15:45 (four months ago)

ok but really COMBAT should be like 10 minutes longer

this is my one criticism. someone please do an extended remix. hell go 30 minutes if you can

my bf compared "Broken" to the Temper Trap which I now can't unhear. Loving the album though, particularly "QQQQ".
