The prospect of waking up every morning inhabited by the thought that you will make an LP before the sun sets must be somewhat exciting in a simultaneously megalomaniacal and self-effacing kind of way.

Along with Robert Pollard and all his bands, I always think of Legendary Pink Dots/Edward Ka-Spel and Acid Mothers Temple.

Could any of them ever be worth checking out properly? To stretch yourself that thin and still be any good you would have to be a complete genius.

Celer (a tragic case). It also goes without saying that specific genres lend themselves to prolixity more readily than others.

About that Dizzy Genius - from the Best pair of albums by the same artist/band in a single calendar year thread:
But duh, an obvious recent case is Kabza De Small & DJ Maphorisa’s Scorpion Kings/The Return of the Scorpion Kings one-two, both on my 2019 album ballot. Not to mention there was also their Piano Hub last year, as well as Kabza’s solo Pretty Girls Love Amapiano mixtape.- and just this week the pair dropped another excellent album.― breastcrawl, donderdag 6 februari 2020 22:48

Kabza de Small’s tally so far this year (there were four last year, see upthread):February: Scorpion Kings Live (with DJ Maphorisa) (note: it’s a studio album)April: Pretty Girls Love Amapiano, Vol. 2April: Once Upon a Time in Lockdown (with DJ Maphorisa)June: I Am The King Of Amapiano: Sweet & DustThese are long-ass albums, they are a lot to take in, people might even say (and have said, on this thread) they can get a bit samey, but it’s quality stuff and there’s plenty of gold* as well as new and exciting directions explored on all of them.*including song-of-the-year-so-far “Emcimbini” on February’s offering― No mean feat. And that's not to mention all the production work he's done for others in the same period, and counting. All of these projects are very (commercially) successful too.

Related to ambient stuff: not every day, but Richard Skelton is shockingly prolific, and while there is some...sameyness that comes in, I find none of his work extraneous.

Not just when he was alive! There's been a steady drip of albums since his death. There's been four 'new' ones in 2020 alone.

xpost to mahb - That's because none of their releases were on streaming services (apart from Bandcamp, if you consider that a streaming service) until a month or two ago, when they started making them available.

Pete Namlook was like this too before he died. Between 1992 and 2002 he released around 40 solo albums and something like 200 collab albums with various other electronic musicians.
― Tuomas, Friday, 4 December 2020 07:57 (four years ago)
Sorry, that should read "between 1992 and 2012".
not every day, but Daniel Romano has released about 9, 10 albums this year.and not tossed off experimental/demo-y stuff or anything but proper full band recordings. most of them are pretty good but that's *a lot* of Daniel Romano.
