Romeo Void — "It's a Condition" (1981)

One of my favorite albums of all time.

Myself to Myself... a high-water mark of new wave sax playing!

I'm thinking that one as well. Honestly, it's a toss up between the first and last tracks for me.

Wow, I never listened to this, and now that I'm giving it a spin I remember hearing "Myself to Myself" on new wave radio back in the day. It's weird hearing something you haven't heard since you were a teen.

I like this second song, "Nothing for Me", it's so dark and sinister. Why didn't people who liked early Cure pick up on this?

Went for "I Mean It". Hadn't made a connection before, but explains why I immediately liked Low's first album.

Wounded Bird Records reissued all of these with bonus tracks, including packaging this album with Debora Iyall's Strange Language on a single cd. Value! All OOP and not listed on their website now, which is surprising given the other artists still available.

Yes, sometimes I've wondered about how official some of those Wounded Bird reissues were. Apparently it's fairly rare as it's not even available on Discogs. And when it is, it seems to sell for at least $50.

I remember checking out Debora Iyall's album and being pretty disappointed with it. Very MOR, "new wave lite" kind of sound. . . but nothing memorable about it.

Both the DI albums (Strange Language, Stay Strong) and the Knife In Water (Knifeinwater?) album Dialog aren't as strong as Romeo Void's output, kind of like Toni Halliday's solo album not having Curve's punch. All of those, I'll keep for the vocals even if the music isn't up to snuff.

Ended up voting "Myself to Myself", but immediately regretted it.

This album rules.

Always thought this album title was one exclamation point away from being the name of a sitcom.
