Why does the parson ask if they are married?

What does he think they are going to do?

is this the only popular song to celebrate perspiration?

akm, Saturday, 26 December 2020 22:25 (five years ago)

Perspiration? Don’t think so. “Dancing With Myself” and “Cold Sweat” off the top of my head.

Growing up, I thought "parson" was a shade of brown. I thought the protagonists wanted to imagine a brown snowman.

Now I want to pitch a series of Parson Brown romances to the Hallmark Channel. In the first one, he’s a 40ish itinerant parson pressed into service for a local wedding in a small New England town circa 1910 (when their full-time minister is called away by a sick relative). In addition to dispensing avuncular relationship wisdom to the young bride and groom, he catches the eye of the groom’s maiden aunt. The second movie is about the parson’s own mishap-filled wedding, and subsequent films have him in kind of a floating matchmaker role. I’m thinking a Hugh Jackman type for the lead.

Man, you are really rolling with this. It's not a bad idea. I picture one of those Xmas amnesia episodes where he tracks down the real identity of the Handsome Confused Stranger, but strategically keeps it under his stovepipe hat until the denouement.

I thought that "parson brown" meant fleshtone, i.e. they would imagine their snowman was a real person.

Does it celebrate perspiration? It celebrates precipitation and conspiracy but not perspiration afaik

The confusion about the Parson Brown verse seems disingenuous? It seems pretty obvious that it's a playful way for the couple to express their commitment to each other (or for the singer to express their wish for commitment). The circus clown verse was added later to make it more of a childrens' song, right?
