The Bottom Line show calendar March 1980

Been on a deep dive into Jack Bruce's music and picked up a retro-live set from the Bottom Line that had a neat club calendar featured in the artwork.

It was a pretty impressively eclectic mix of musicians featured for one month and I got to wondering which show ILM followers might have liked to check out, if they got one time travel ticket.

Heck, I figured in the spirit of ILM, there is a shot that someone in the audience went to one of these shows.

Will give good odds on John Cale and The The being the winner.

I kinda figure that too, but ILM does sometimes does go contrarian.

No idea what the Uncle Floyd Show might have been, I'm guessing maybe it was a club show version of this?

I assume this means (imagining) seeing the acts in their 1980 incarnations?

Halfway there but for you, Sunday, 31 January 2021 18:02 (four years ago)

Mike Bloomfield playing a year before his death, looked it up and he died in Feb. of '81.

FYI, Jack Bruce's band at these shows was Billy Cobham, David Sancious & Clem Clempson. Pretty good group and more than a bit of jazz stretch out in the gig. Worth hearing if you are inclined to this type of music.

Oh yeah, vote you go to NYC Bottom Line circa March 1980- which would be a fine time traveling experience I figure in itself.

I forgot to mention how much I love that Montreaux 82 Gathering of Minds thing when everybody was talking about Alan Holdsworth a few weeks ago

i got to see mccoy tyner numerous times in the 2000s but he woulda been a lot more enjoyable in the 80's i'm sure

i was actually seeing shows there back then, but didn't see any of the above. voted for the one i would have most likely opted for then, garland jeffreys.

i had no idea prince played at the bottom line. that's nuts. that show was pre-dirty mind, so i doubt i would even have been cognizant of him then. i def saw one of those "evening with lou reed" shows later that year...

Yes, that Uncle Floyd Show. Morbius and I were big fans, iirc. Believe Bowie mentions him in a song. His brothers Jerry and Jimmy Vivino are both pretty successful musicians.

Think I have a relative who may have gone to that Prince show

Anyway, here is my answer to a similar question from a while back: Poll: Which concert would you attend from the listings in the 8-29-77 Village Voice I found at my mom's house?
