only recently heard the original, after that jerky buzzy noisy mix was played everywhere kidding me into thinking *that* was the proper version.
the original mix is...*fantastic*.
what a lyric though.
i so wish it was a big hit.
my copy cost a pound because *no-one* seems interested in
electroclash up north it seems, including me for the most part.
golden boy - who he ?
is there any more good stuff like this ?
has he got an album ? is it all done with miss kittin ?
there's no threads about this anywhere i don't think.

this is a GREAT track! i've been kind of blah about the other kittin stuff i've heard, but this is ace! was considering picking up the golden boy lp

Golden Boy and Miss Kittin have an album yeah. It's called If or Is or something short like that, I forget.

Urgent and Key, does the single have the X-Press 2 remix on it?

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 25 November 2002 11:56 (twenty-three years ago)

it's called "Or"

I strongly suggest you listen first before buying the LP. Some samples here:

I love her, obviously.

Yeah, this is my favorite song out of the whole 'electroclash' scene. It highlights that terrific coldness, the dull and deadened pulse that is its potential. Cartoon sketch of desensitized modernity meets PoMo dance number fully aware of its retro-revival-aesthetic-as-music. Perfect.

Dare, Monday, 25 November 2002 17:20 (twenty-three years ago)

she looks so much more "right" in the photo than the one i saw in that issue of muzik with her mix cd on the cover. and yes i love this song. i hope tom comes around eventually.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Monday, 25 November 2002 17:21 (twenty-three years ago)

I think the LP is one of the most solid full-lengths I've heard come out of this scene -- I like it far better than Kittinz and thee Glitz or any of her stuff with the Hacker. All soft and gleamy. And if you really want to fall in love with Kittin, just listen to her trying (and failing) not to giggle on "After Eight."

nabisco (nabisco), Monday, 25 November 2002 17:25 (twenty-three years ago)

haha what mitch said about the photo

Jeff W, Monday, 25 November 2002 17:45 (twenty-three years ago)

I have exactly the same Recordplayer that she have n the pic!

Jens (brighter), Monday, 25 November 2002 17:49 (twenty-three years ago)

what's funny is you can see what appears to be another turntable above on the hifi rack.

Sean (Sean), Monday, 25 November 2002 17:53 (twenty-three years ago)

what's funny too is that she looks nothing like that in ree-ull life.

piscesboy, Monday, 25 November 2002 18:02 (twenty-three years ago)

let a man believe, pisces.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Monday, 25 November 2002 18:14 (twenty-three years ago)

And she drinks Schwip Schwap! I already hearted the song but now I heart Miss Kittin.

Vinnie (vprabhu), Monday, 25 November 2002 19:57 (twenty-three years ago)

that's not her! as piscesboy says, she looks nothing like that in real life. she is however cute in the flesh even though it has to be said that she's one of the moodiest, most aloof people i have ever met.

ten months pass...
maybe this is old news, but i saw a video for the 'glove radio mix' of this on vh1.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Sunday, 12 October 2003 09:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Worth reviving, I guess, since it's such a great song. I've seen that video doing the rounds on the p2p network, so interested folks, put your Emule to work. That photo upthread is definitely her (though definitely not very familiar looking), but the girl in the video isn't Miss. BTW: my favorite mix of that song is the Ellen Allien one, good to mix into the original one to the effect that the song appears to break apart and become this Berlin/Bpitch -style glitch-techno/electro/etc...

Janne (Janne), Sunday, 12 October 2003 09:50 (twenty-two years ago)

three months pass...
I am listening to this song right now! Clearly it is pure class.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 16 January 2004 16:52 (twenty-two years ago)

one year passes...
STILLL GREAT

adam.r.l. (nordicskilla), Friday, 28 January 2005 18:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Weird reminiscence: this new Ze Records comp (Undercover) has a version of "Money" by, umm, Bohemians vs. Cowboys, and there's something about the particular electrotricks in it that's seriously, weirdly, all Golden Boy. Years and years apart, and little details -- the kinds of things that usually give music like this the particular maker's personality -- reflect across.

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 28 January 2005 18:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Anyway the album, Or, still sounds great. I believe the Or is for gold, not alternative options.

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 28 January 2005 18:40 (twenty-one years ago)

1 2 3 4

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 28 January 2005 19:25 (twenty-one years ago)

1 2 3?

Alba (Alba), Friday, 28 January 2005 19:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I think the thing was that everyone was doing grainy Gigolos-style electro and then Golden Boy snagged Miss Kittin for this glowing creamy stuff that in the end would have more in common with like "Can't Get You Out of My Head" than "electroclash."

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 28 January 2005 19:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah remember electroclash! "Golden Boy, Fischerspooner, FUTURISM 1, AMERICAN GIGOLO MIXED BY TIGA, WHO IS THIS VITALIC GUY???, ROOM SERVICE RINGING NINE BELLS, I WANT TO BE. A PORNO. STAR. WATCHING YOU ON THE SCREEN. IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII.......DON'T......CARE."

Good times for all!
