Love the title track; probably my fave Whitney after "How Will I Know."

"Let It Flow" is nice, too. Not sure I know any of the others.

"sittin' up in my room" is such a perfect song - the bassline, the way the chorus resolves the bridge, Brandy's vocal runs, the way she seems so relatable and likeable, capturing that urgent longing without seeming pathetic.

I have never seen this movie, though.

I LOVED Moore's performance on Soul Train Awards last year - coming out bouncing "I'm on Soul Train, I'm on Soul Train" this is exactly what I would do if I was ever given the opportunity to perform on an awards show.

Was in love with chante Moore when she came out. Straight up is a fun j-lo track from her phase of trying to get a big hit.

"wey u" is a world unto itself

"wey u" is pretty cool

i forgot that this was a babyface project nearly front-to-back. went back and listened to all the hits, only a couple of which i didn't really recall. i'm leaning toward voting for "let it flow," tho the title tune and "sittin' up in my room" are also really good

"count on me" is cute/sweet as a closer + friendship anthem

let it flow.

a nice controlled drift (Spottie), Monday, 8 February 2021 20:13 (four years ago)

the crowning achievement of Babyface’s imperial phase, where the entire population was treated to a two-week holiday. he wrote (except for the obvious one) and produced the whole thing. god I played this cd to death.

played it again yesterday, and I still like everything except the Sonja Marie track. even the SWV sounded great instead of hey, it’s SWV but it’s not as good as their hits.

my favourite still has to be one of the big ones tho: “Exhale”, “Not Gon’ Cry”, “Let It Flow” and “Sittin’ Up In My Room”. I’m also leaning towards Toni. that track sounds like she could have sung it last week.

Chanté Moore appreciation? you obviously can’t go wrong with “Love’s Taken Over” from three years earlier:

and if we’re going appreciation-by-association, future (and past) hubby Kenny Lattimore’s first album, released six months after WtE, is classic. “Forgiveness”, one of the two Keith Crouch jams, is so so so good:

I love Keith Crouch
