The new Groove Armada record..........THERE I SAID IT.

Has anyone got this?

I was out on Saturday night and my friend was DJing, he played this fucking godlike Freestylers meets Medicine 8 meets well.....Superstylin' type record and I couldn't stop grinning it was so good. And then I asked him what it was and he said "it's the new Groove Armada single".

He played another track by them then which was also pretty great. Did anyone buy this album? How was it such a lowkey release? I mean I hated all their chillout stuff, loved Superstylin' like it was my baby, and now I love this aswell. Is this the album that really does need the boring review opener of "groove armada have waved goodbye to the dreamy laid back chill out days and said hello to banging nightclub mentalism". HELLO YOU TOOLS THIS IS HOW YOU STARTED THE REVIEWS OF THE ALBUM THAT CAME OUT LAST YEAR. YOU KNOW? THE ONE THAT WAS CALLED "GOODBYE COUNTRY, HELLO NIGHTCLUB".

Ahem. Well? Anyone heard it?

(also use this thread to go and look at my space cowboy post on NYLPM, it's my first one, I am very proud.)

This happens more and more, is my fly open or something?

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 25 November 2002 16:05 (twenty-two years ago)

what do you expect when you go round starting threads on groove armada and shit?

michael wells (michael w.), Monday, 25 November 2002 16:22 (twenty-two years ago)

It's a good song!!!!!! If it was Basement Jaxx you'd all be hiring go go dancers to help you write more inspirational entries about it on your blogs not to mention drinking yourselves into stupors and posting about how it's the best thing since all you can eat at Pizza Gut.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 25 November 2002 16:29 (twenty-two years ago)

word

(i haven't heard it yet Ro)

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 25 November 2002 19:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I have faith in them now, think of the stunning live performance with that ragga MC screaming "groove armada MASH up da place". I had a genuine "hahaha this is so good" moment on Saturday listening to this.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 25 November 2002 20:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Ronan, I bought this when it came out and played it for like a month, but it just doesn't seem to have staying power. I haven't really listened to it since. I'm going to put it in now and listen, tho...

webcrack (music=crack), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 00:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Is this the album?

I wouldn't buy the album to be honest, not without hearing more, but that single really is excellent. I mean Big Beat was the first dance music I ever liked at like 13 or 14 or something and although this is a house record, there's still that connection there.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 10:32 (twenty-two years ago)

ronan, i namechecked you on the best taste thread as an unreconstructed klubbhead however, your liking of big beat tempts me to SHOUT FOR THE MODERATOR!

michael wells (michael w.), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 11:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Wouldn't you get better response from calling the thread new Groove Armada single? Now everyone passing by just thinks you're hopelessly out of date.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 13:33 (twenty-two years ago)

bought the 12 " of 'back to my roots' and was astonished
at how they could take such a great song and version of same,
and remove it's soul heart guts and balls with one wave of their
majik remix wand.

piscesboy, Tuesday, 26 November 2002 17:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah ok I know they're terrible and they've done all these crap records like at the river ETC ETC ETC but this isn't a c or d. I'm going to go off and listen to the single on my fucking own now.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 19:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't listen to "Purple Haze" alone, it will EAT YOUR SOUL. And not in a good way either. The new album is way better than anything else they've ever done, ever, but then again so is my arse.

Charlie (Charlie), Wednesday, 27 November 2002 03:05 (twenty-two years ago)

two months pass...
To steal a line from gareth on the audio bullys thread, Love Box (or whatever it's called) sounds like what I imagine Death In Vegas are like. Side 1 is almost rock, Side 2 almost dance. I didn't like it much.

Jeff W, Monday, 27 January 2003 10:17 (twenty-two years ago)

not quite Death In Vegas - give THEM a listen for gawd's sake!

stevem (blueski), Monday, 27 January 2003 14:00 (twenty-two years ago)

the one I like is called "FINAL SHAKEDOWN", and it is absolutely classic, though all the big beat haterz won't think so. come on it has an mc, enough said.

"Superstylin'" is truly an awesome tune.

groove is on

blueski, Tuesday, 15 May 2007 16:00 (eighteen years ago)

Ronan seems to catch a high amount of unflattering revived threads :(

I don't know if this one quite outdoes the "I do love breaks" one though.

Just glad I didn't post here 4 years ago, my posts this year are bad enough.

jim, Tuesday, 15 May 2007 16:01 (eighteen years ago)

haha for a second i thought ronan had started this about the new sub-even-basement-jaxx's-last-shit-album groove armada work and was like (what is that emoticon of shock? insert it here).

the groove armada/mutya track is good but entirely because of mutya and despite groove armada

lex pretend, Tuesday, 15 May 2007 16:01 (eighteen years ago)

Groove Armada is like the antithesis of Basement Jaxx though! The latter crams each second with like 80 samples and Groove Armada's like, whatever dude.

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 15 May 2007 16:03 (eighteen years ago)

yeah the new groove armada is a bit of a leap into a newly vacated niche switch-up of style

lex pretend, Tuesday, 15 May 2007 16:06 (eighteen years ago)

I haven't heard it!

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 15 May 2007 16:07 (eighteen years ago)

i wouldn't go out of my way, if i were you

lex pretend, Tuesday, 15 May 2007 16:11 (eighteen years ago)

blueski, Tuesday, 15 May 2007 16:15 (eighteen years ago)

he cant really go much out of his way, have you seen his new pants? dude cant even sit down

696, Tuesday, 15 May 2007 16:16 (eighteen years ago)

one year passes...

This rum company bought the rights to distribute five new songs by Groove Armada. The idea is that upon registration you get the first track immediately and as you keep inviting people you'll keep unlocking the rest of the tracks. Four originals and The Twelves remix that has already been circulating What.cd

If you'd like to enter the game I'd really apreciate for you to help me unlock the three songs i'm still missing by registering from this link.

Hope this ain't considered as spam since I'm not even posting the brand. Go if you feel like, otherwise you dont really have to know what devil's corp is doing this.
Thanks guys i really enjoy Groove Armada's music and am willing to support this marketing experiment for a little while.
