"Whoomp (There It Is)" is just next level catchy.

Both good songs, but the Allstate commercial is creepy and weird where the Geico commercial is fun and funny. No contest.

That Geico ad campaign has always rankled me because of how much it debases the artists in the service of some cheap pun.

It forces them to sell out in the worst sense... you're song is literally a punchline.

Did you read the Undefeated piece on this? Selling out is not a big concern for Tag Team and they in fact drove the commercial to be what it turned out to be.

"Scoop" for "Whoomp" isn't great, but "choco-lata, choco-lata, choco-lata" is A+.

That article mentions Salt n Pepa's "success" from their Geico ad, and they were one of the acts I felt bad for (I never thought of them as a novelty act or one hit wonder, but the ad somehow seemed imply both). It's like, the idea of your song and your continued existence is inherently funny.

But of course I'm ignoring all the 16 year olds that never knew that song before and do now.

I guess I'm just a rockist curmudgeon.

the tag team fellas in that commercial are absolutely precious and i love them. their smiles! i hate it when i like commercials, but they get a pass.
