The GOJIRA Thread

There's never been one before now, and they have a new album, Fortitude, coming out April 30.

I think their best album is L'Enfant Sauvage, with From Mars to Sirius right behind. The first time I saw them live was on the From Mars... tour, opening for Amon Amarth. Their 2016 album Magma is also very good, but a little cleaner than L'Enfant Sauvage, not as heavy. When I bought it, it came with a bonus DVD of their performance at Rock In Rio in front of, I don't know, a quarter of a million people or whatever.

i love this band. id say from mars to sirius is their best but it was also my entry point so im a bit biased.

I have a ticket for the Gojira/Mastodon tour this fall and want to start exploring Gojira's discography before the show. My favorite Mastodon albums are the earlier ones before the songs got less complex — Leviathan, Blood Mountain, and especially Crack the Skye are all-timers for me.

With that in mind, where should I start with Gojira?

id go

from mars to sirius
the way of all flesh
magma
l'enfant sauvage

mars and flesh are like co #1s for me, i would def start w those. then a slight gap then magma and sauvage are also really close.

That Olympics opening ceremony performance was choice.

Wondering if this would be revived. Gojira POV go

other than the obvious Mario/Luigi thing... wtf?

the two Duplantier brothers are dual French-American citizens, even: see "Personal Life" here:
