was not familiar with Delilah Holliday - she's in a punk band called Skinny Girl Diet with her sister apparently.

anyway this was suggested to me and it's really great, trippy...maybe Portishead meets New Amerykah era Badu? Neneh Cherry?

production is so great on this, love the songs

That's really cool, will definitely check out the whole EP. I get the trip-hop reference (and am broadly in favor of rehabbing the genre), but you could also mention FKA Twigs or Dawn Richard etc. if people are worried about hearing Sneaker Pimps or w/e

Ah ok just started the second track which is much more clearly Neneh Cherry influenced

yeah honestly probably I don't have the greatest frame of reference for comparisons in this space, the trip hop, neneh thing I got from the article

They were a big part in the making of the project, too. Delilah recorded the album in Sweden, while staying with trip hop legend Neneh Cherry in the countryside. Over there, she was surrounded by them. “The whole project is sort of birthed into this mushroom world,” she continues. “And I just thought the whole mushroom vibe with the music went really well together.”

No you're totally otm. "Devoted 2 U" is the least trip-hoppy sounding (IMO) but the rest absolutely earns the comparison. Whole thing breezed by pleasantly

I haven't checked that out, but as a devotee of Neneh it would totally make sense to move from feminist punk to trip-hop

I started the EP over and immediately like it even more. I feel like Brad, among other ilxors, would really like this

forks would like this too

I love Goddess Energy, especially the bass line under the punk-y chorus, all the different layers throughout:

four years pass...

I haven't listened to Collective Consciousness in a long time, but her new two-song collaboration with They Hate Change is fun: https://delilahholliday.bandcamp.com/album/eyes-on-you. It's less trip-hop and more ravey this time, esp the first track
