A friend has asked me to compile a selection of songs by the above for her. I have the complete back catalogue for both and am planning to do a side of each on a C90. What do you suggest i put on it?

fugazi: shut the door, break, instrument, epic problem

gvsb: nothing from Freak-On-Ica. Zodiac Love Team.

Ian Johnson (orion), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 17:50 (twenty-three years ago)

_Freak-On-Ica_ is unjustly reviled.

GVSB: "Superfire", "Viva Romastar", "Glass Eye", "Kill the Se/axplayer"
Fugazi: "Caustic Acrostic", "5 Corporations", "Arpeggiator" (or the song with the title approximating that word)

Fugazi: Great Cop (!!!)

_Freak-On-Ica_ is justly reviled.

That's what you meant to say, right? ;-)

Fugazi: Smallpox Champion, Full Disclosure, Blueprint, Target, And The Same, Recap Mondotti

GBV: My Impression Now, Big School, On The Tundra, I Am A Scientist, Little Whirl, Little Lines, Surgical Focus

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 23:41 (twenty-three years ago)

hahha. I thought you said GBV. Ok. GVSB: Bughouse, Super-Fire, Tucked In, Roxy, BFF, My Night Of Pleasure, Vera Cruz, track 2 on Venus Lux (the one with "you gotta rise to the occasion" in it).

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 26 November 2002 23:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Fugazi: Great Cop, Facet Squared, Long Distance Runner, Long Division, Blueprint, Polish, Oh

GVSB: Bullet Proof Cupid (the only GVSB track I have any feelings for)

paul cox (paul cox), Wednesday, 27 November 2002 00:14 (twenty-three years ago)

fugazi - probably all of 'in on the kill taker', the last track off 'steady diet of nothing', 'lockdown' off '13 songs', 'by you' off 'red medicine'...and not much else, i'm sad to say. can't help with the other one.

angelo (angelo), Wednesday, 27 November 2002 01:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Ned, sweetie, if you're going to fuck w/ my word choice, you better cook me breakfast when you're done.

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 27 November 2002 03:03 (twenty-three years ago)

fugazi - no one said "merchandise"! also, "do you like me" off of red medicine.

voss, Wednesday, 27 November 2002 07:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Lots of good ones so far - sexy sam and rockets are red will def be on the gvsb side.

leigh (leigh), Wednesday, 27 November 2002 10:13 (twenty-three years ago)

run "anotherdroneinmyhead" into "dear justice letter", because one pilfers from the other in a very satisfying way. i also seem to remember "disco 666" apeing "reclamation". all of the abov are fine, fine pieces of music.

My suggested definitive Fugazi compilation (and in case you ask, yeah, I did consider and reject tracks from Margin Walker and Steady Diet, mainly because of bad production; I would have included "Runaway Return" if there were some live bootleg of it commonly available...)

The Argument
(edit out most of intro) Do You Like Me?
Epic Problem
Forensic Scene
Trio's
Turnover
Repeater
Rend It
Waiting Room
No Surprise
Great Cop
The Kill
Suggestion
Shut the Door

Pete Scholtes, Wednesday, 27 November 2002 22:22 (twenty-three years ago)

edit out most of intro?!?!!

Josh (Josh), Thursday, 28 November 2002 01:25 (twenty-three years ago)

one month passes...
I meant edit out that instrumental noise thingy at the beginning of the CD. It's great, but it breaks the momentum of the tape...
