I wonder if the Glitterbeat label (Altin Gun, Samba Toure, Liraz, etc) deserves its own thread. I seem to be building up a collection of their stuff.

It's a great label, as is tak:til, the experimental(?) sub-label.

Full disclosure: I'm spending a few days in Ljubljana and I picked up a few Glitterbeat albums this week (at reasonable local prices), including music by Los Piranas, Samba Toure, Orkesta Mendoza and - on tak:til - Josh Abrams. They've also issued a repackaging of Eno-produced Edikanfo - The Pace Setters, which I can't wait to listen to when I get back home.

A friend tried to get me into 75 Dollar Bill but I found it too much like hard work.

one month passes...

Started listening to Liraz after seeing her in the first season of Apple TV+’s Tehran, mostly for the foreign language aspect, since she sings in Hebrew AND Persian. I’m intrigued but have yet to decide whether I actually like the music or am just in it for the exotic tongues.

Can’t figure out if she only goes by her first name now or that is only for Persian projects.

two years pass...

Glitterbeat are still on fine form. For example https://kuunatic.bandcamp.com/album/wheels-of-mon

Not to mention Park Jiha (who has her own dedicated ILM thread).
