Last night I decided to listen to Adam F - Circles for the first time in at least 20 years and consequently came across this name for the first time as well.

she certainly picks classic samples
― xheugy eddy (D-40), Saturday, 14 August 2021 19:20 (four years ago)
i think she's great. the combo of her lyrics, her vocals and the brevity of the songs gives her music a dreamlike quality that really appeals to me, i like that the tracks feel as if they're floating in and out of your consciousness, or like they're these little gems tucked into a DJ mix that you'd periodically remember once a year and play for a weekend straight. it's a flirtation with ephemerality in the songwriting while also being really zeitgeisty that i think is cool. "pain" in particular really hits these notes for me

This is extremely 2021 and extremely UK and I like it

vocals kinda reminds me of some max tundra stuff for some reason
― Bongo Jongus, Monday, 16 August 2021 22:17 (three years ago)
its so obviously 'good' im skeptical of it, but i suppose triggering all of these very specific notes that grab me counts for something

kinda comical that a british rapper has already had a hit much bigger than any of hers by flipping "just for me"
― ufo, Monday, 6 December 2021 15:15 (three years ago)
idk seems pretty straightforward
― J0rdan S., Monday, 6 December 2021 16:42 (three years ago)
she does have several songs with more spotify streams than that one (tho cench is quickly gaining on the original “just for me”)

New album Heaven Knows out November 10; new song "Capable of love" now out which I think is the longest song she's ever released?

― monotony, Thursday, 12 October 2023 22:55 (one year ago)
ooh this one's really nice
only previous tracks on the album are "mosquito" and "boy's a liar pt. 2" of course
― ufo, Thursday, 12 October 2023 23:24 (one year ago)
album feels a bit underwhelming in the end, just a bit undercooked, the magic isn't consistently there? the singles & "ophelia" (gorgeous harp-heavy r&b with danny l harle) are the best tracks.
― ufo, Friday, 10 November 2023 11:26 (one year ago)
enjoyed the singles jukebox takes on "boy's a liar pt. 2": https://www.thesinglesjukebox.com/?p=30973

was kinda my feeling too. just didn't think the songwriting was strong enough which is interesting given kurstin's heavy involvement. "nice to meet you" is a good example insofar as the producer/feature combo is great but the song lands in that weird charli xcx halfway to mainstream pop purgatory place. i think "blue" was my fav of the album tracks
i will also say that it hink "mosquito" is her best song since "passion" and one of my fav singles of the year, i love the little nods towards "someone to call my lover" on that

Various folks on Blue Sky mentioned a '20 minute album' where there's not a single track over 3 minutes and oh boy this girl does not play around
― Etherwave, Thursday, 31 July 2025 12:54 (two weeks ago)
I heard that one with the Underworld sample once, in a local hipster cheese shop, and the melody lived under my skin and in the core of my being for weeks afterwards, until I had to play it a few more times.
― LocalGarda, Thursday, 31 July 2025 13:09 (two weeks ago)
Which is the one with the Underworld sample?
Her songs are absurdly catchy. I heard that 'You can be my Murican' one and it stuck to my brain like goosegrass

This one. I heard it once and not even all of it. I am surprised this hasn't been mentioned here as I just heard it in passing. But I watched the TV broadcast of her performing it at Glastonbury and it seemed pretty big, maybe has been big in the UK.
― LocalGarda, Thursday, 31 July 2025 13:32 (two weeks ago)
can’t stop playing this album, special mention for “Noises” classic dnb dna

my kids tell me “Illegal” has been all over TikTok in the last month or two
― assert (matttkkkk), Thursday, 31 July 2025 13:36 (two weeks ago)
Ah that must be it, the crowd were all singing along in the video. Also when I heard it at the shop in Hackney it had that weird energy of virality or something that you sometimes get when a certain song is played in a public place, and which you can identify in people's reaction even if you don't know the song.
― LocalGarda, Thursday, 31 July 2025 13:38 (two weeks ago)
yeah the Illegal sound is used a lot on TIkTok xp
― (•̪●) (carne asada), Thursday, 31 July 2025 13:40 (two weeks ago)
I thought they legalised TikTok again
― LocalGarda, Thursday, 31 July 2025 13:43 (two weeks ago)
Yeah the social media discussion was a lot of the brevity of the songs being deliberately planned to ensure TikTok-ability
Also something about the clever use of technological nostalgia, because apparently the video for one of her songs uses a filter common in the early YouTube era? I wish I could remember the details but of course I can't find the post now
― Etherwave, Thursday, 31 July 2025 13:55 (two weeks ago)
Wait I found it. This is where I heard the Murikan song
it's happened: a music video has used the unsharp mask effect to invoke 2000s nostalgia (an effect commonly used by the labels when youtube let them upscale their old music videos in the year 2019) https://t.co/6FYNm00DWL— caleb gamman (@calebgamman) July 30, 2025
The nostalgia aspect wouldn't work if her songs weren't so damned catchy. But it's interesting the way she blends the samples, the visual references, etc.
― Etherwave, Thursday, 31 July 2025 13:56 (two weeks ago)
wow I love it
― Proust Ian Rush (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Thursday, 31 July 2025 14:06 (two weeks ago)
yeah “illegal” is one of the year’s best songs. she’s got an incredible ear for melodies and an ability to sound offhand and causal while: a) still coming up with memorable turns of phrase, and b) without seeming like she’s trying too hard to be offhand and casual

― Etherwave, Thursday, 31 July 2025 19:23 (two weeks ago)
this album is flat-out extraordinary. finally, the gen z kids are discovering basement jaxx!
the opening four-track run feels like a high moment for pop in this decade. the transition from "tonight" into "stars" is just *chefs kiss*
The last song is a bit too kitschy but everything else feels perfect

it's funny i'm raving about this, given i thought To Hell With It was rather boring
― josh az (2011nostalgia), Wednesday, 6 August 2025 00:05 (one week ago)
its funny I feel like so much of the discourse is about how shes so cool and has such great taste and I feel like the brand is actually that she's basic and has kind of 'mid' taste (sometimes it's knowing ie leaning in on the sears catalog fashions or whatever) BUT is like, a cut-above artist who manages to take all that and produce art thats really inspired and contemporary and musically engaging
