Sweet Trip

Firing this up because they released a beautiful comeback album this year to no avail and it's crazy that they don't have a dedicated thread yet. They generally float somewhere in the nexus of shoegaze, glitch and tropicalia and I'm kinda shocked that they came back so strong. Then again, I'm a sucker for deep, blissful phaser swells:

They've got some obvious influences that they lean on heavily but if you're gonna take a shot at an all time great like xtal you gotta bring some of your own ideas to it:

I love everything they do, I've been a fan since I got Halica as a subscriber to the Bliss Out Series. Each of their records has its own vibe, within the same general sound. I need to listen to the new one more, I bought the vinyl before realizing it'll be who-knows-when before it's actually available.

Ugh, was just googling the Shoegaze/Dreampop/Electronic band Sweet Trip and found this deeply upsetting Reddit post where the top comment is from one member's husband. He talks about how Roby Burgos had a long unhealthy obsession with the other member and sexually assaulted her a year ago. They were promoting the release of their reunion album, which unbeknownst to her at the time of its creation was apparently secretly a love letter to her. What an absolute shithead. I doubt I'll ever be able to listen to their music again.
