Trecco Beis/Joseph Evans - Lo fi powerpop garage psych occasionally surfish stuff from Wales

A month ago or so, I bumped into an Instagram post from the Welsh band El Goodo, remembering their friend Joseph Evans, who was in a band named Trecco Beis, along with his brother Luke. Joseph passed away this past August. I also heard a brief remembrance in a BBC Wales piece about Mr. Evans. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0011hqb

The gram post recommended listening to Trecco Beis, so I searched them out on Bandcamp and bought their posted Gaff Trilogy from 2019. These songs have the feelings of demos which are so very perfect in what they're doing that further production isn't really necessary for appreciation, and perhaps improve it in ways. Massive collisions of power pop and lofi and garage psych and occasional surf guitar stylings-- and way more. If there's more of their stuff to be heard, I'd like to know.

But the Gaff songs themselves, really. So very good. I remember the when I got a vinyl re-release of the The Modern Lovers in like 1983, and it was the last time I felt so present and pulled in by a collection of songs. Not that these sound similar, they just like, feel similarly direct and good. There is a song called "Lou Says," so that's there too.

If this kind of thing is your kind of thing, highly recommended. Joseph's brother and family have a Gofundme to create a Welsh open space in his memory. I think we all lost a lot with his passing, from what I hear.
