Gheto Blaster Recommendations: simple as that

Can anyone recommend a good ghetto blaster-type CD player? I am looking for one that is a level all-rounder - good top end and bottom end frequency response; coping OK with eveything from Carly Simon to DAT Politics, from the Desert Wolves to Alf Hurum, from Duran Duran to Color of Money (If indeed I had anything by them), from Diego Ortiz to Herbert Gronemeyer, from The Brilliant Corners to Aha. While something ecumenical is in order, bringing together my entire CD collection, I'd prefer to avoid those mollycoddling pre-set equalizers; and I have no need for more than one CD tray. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

P.S>I had, 'till recently, a Panasonic Powerblaster, but my girlfriend garroted it with a wire reinforced hose - attached to our new vacuum cleaner - whilst I was out learning German at an evening class, and it fell on the kitchen floor - right proper smashing up. I am turning to this board first, not consulting Which, because we used that particular magazine to choose the vacuum cleaner, and this has left a bad taste in my mouth.

are you gonna walk through the ghetto carrying it on your shoulder?

I suppose you could call me new-school: my ghetto blaster's on a worksurface in the kitchen, next to a ceramic oil burner. After putting 6-8 drops of strutting lavender oil in the dish, I generally listen to music and paint large vinyl orbs - later to be sold to raise money for the local hospice.
