Possibly a monstrous question to ask but: what's the likelihood of the new Melchior getting some form of digital/CD release? I can't find any reference to this anywhere yet but may be looking in all the wrong places

If it’s Perlon they don’t do digital but the albums generally get a CD release

New Tony Price album is very good

In late 2020, Tony Price found himself stuck in Los Angeles, unable to fly back to his native Toronto because of Covid-19 restrictions. But he found another way. A former radio DJ Price knew was selling their 1981 Lincoln Continental Mark VI, so he bought the car, intending to drive back to Canada in style. He found a bag of cassette tapes—homemade mixes and radio show recordings from the late '80s replete with motorik Detroit techno, thumping Chicago house and advertisements for products that only exist in memory—stashed in the trunk. The tapes and the old car made a perfect match, and Price played the cassettes constantly during the long drive from California to Ontario.

After his road trip, Price scoured the tapes for samples, pulling together what would become his new album.

Did we know Call Super was releasing a new album today? I mean it’s credited to a bunch of names but they’re all pseudonyms. Very dancefloor focused - some of it is a bit “2006 Trentemoller called and wants his sound palette back” but the harder tracks are generally amazing - especially “Limelight”.

There something in one of the first tracks (I've been listening to the mixed version) that reminds me of Minimoonstar-era Villalobos.

Listened to the mixed version of the Call Super record on Bandcamp, really really good. I agree that it has an '00s feel, love the glitchy dubbiness/live mixing feel.

"Waterways" is a standout on the Call Super album, one of my tracks of the year so far

In chatting to Ivy about the album I perhaps meanly described the first few tracks as Rerecordo Villalobos, but in the continuous mix version the build to the more hectic material is truly magnificent.

It reminds me a bit of M.A.N.D.Y.’s ‘Body Language’ (over 20 years old! My gosh). I think it was Matt DC who described that mix as containing “hidden shallows”.

Its unabashed grandiosity also reminds me of Wighnomy Bros’ Metawuffmischfelge.
