this was the first track on the comp that really blew my mind. I listened to the full album (it's hard to find because it's actually NOT Joe Hisashi, but rather a band called "Wonder City Orchestra" for which Hisashi was the synth guy for) and it's nothing like this, it's kind of an odd electrofunk album with a lot of vocals on it. The context of the track there vs. on this compilation is way different.

One nice discovery was the Interior album. For some reason it's oddly cheap, I was able to get a good copy for about 10 bucks. This is my favorite track from it:

Of the albums from here I know, most of them are pretty unlike the track that was selected. That makes this comp even cooler IMO, since it stands as its own thing.

I picked this up (on CD). It's not what I'd necessarily call ambient, but it plumbs straight into my unconscious from that period, listening to The Orb, Namlook stuff, progressive house, Aphex/Polygon Window. Magnificent.

Danzindan-Pojidon is such a great LP. it sounds like something that could be released today. hopefully more of those Yoshimura LPs get reissued. my local shop got a few copies of Green and they sold quick. There was a copy of Morio Agata's triple album for sale on the Chinese secondhand market. "Well, THAT'S not a hurry," I thought, "probably been sitting there for years." And by the time I scrounge the money together to buy it..... gone. Blew my mind. Who is this other Agata fan in China and why are they not my friend?

my shop had an original copy of the Van Der Graaf Generator debut for $75. it's not in good shape and you can get a reissue for $20 so I kinda figured it would be there forever. nope, gone in about a week. I asked the owner who bought it and he said it was a 19 year old kid. I guess it's nice to know I wasn't an aberration at that age :)

did anyone else know Inoyamaland put out a record in 2020 and it's really good like maybe even better than their famous one. it still uses the same sounds as their early stuff too. each member takes a side. first half is pure melodic bliss like D-P, second is like a cozy Popol Vuh. final track is amazing
