maybe she needs her own thread idk. i like "coconuts". i like the sophie connection. slut pop is very slutty and poppy. dr luke i see. i wonder where she'll end up.

I mean, I actually do really like this album ("album") but it's so obvious in what it does.

i'm glad i grabbed it last night before my set, i ended up playing 3 tracks from it.
"they wanna fuck" - universal horniness for penetration. retrograde? certainly but i do relate.
"slut pop" - get your titties out. in a group setting at a club? not going to happen. but an exciting frisson nevertheless!
"treat me like a slut" and "your wish is my command". the control fetish in pop music. but po faced and corny imo. there's something sickly satisfying about this subject for me still but in this case it's not doing much for me, like a grindr hookup that wanted more from you than you could give. honey dijon's "personal slave" is a lot more lived in.
so far kim seems to be personifying or advocating for a kind of conservative vision of the libido. i'm not really into it but i feel compelled to play it anyway. worth thinking about!

man her early music is soooooooooo much better than the stuff from the last few years to me. i thought she had this really clear character on those early songs, wide eyed but sharp witted materialistic girl who moves to LA and has a sugar daddy buying her designer clothes while she drives around the hills in his convertible. "i don't want it all," "hillside boys," "faded," "heart to break" are classics to me. but i feel like she ran out of ideas pretty quickly sadly ... slut pop feels like a bottoming out (no pun intended) point for me. like, slayyter is supposed to be the rip off kim petras, not the other way around you know?
her performance of "coconuts" at the european VMAs was prob one of the worst efforts i've ever seen in that kinda forum, she just didn't seem like she belonged up there

i still hold out hope bcuz i still love the early singles. but this has become a really tough one for me

i love your description of her early stuff

everyone at the gay club knows every track on "slut pop"

'unholy' thoughts?
it's ok. kim going from the gutter to 'erotica'.
*slaps side of disclosure remix* this bad boy is solid

wow that "Coconuts" performance/song is rough
― Indexed, Thursday, 20 October 2022 20:32 (two years ago)
kim barely even registers on "unholy" at all but it's not rly a good song to my ears anyway so what do i know about what ppl like abt it
― dyl, Saturday, 22 October 2022 03:20 (two years ago)
unholy is sort of a smash hit though, right? so good for kim jumping on it
coconuts was not good but it's too bad the whole 'problematique' project was scrapped by the label, though it's available on soundcloud last time i checked
the forthcoming new single ('jesus was a rock star' or something?) is max martin produced and apparently a very different direction for her. kim rules and i hope she gets all the success in the world in the year ahead

Sam is terrible on Unholy. I like Petras on it. She fits the style better

Sam is terrible, in general
― boxedjoy, Sunday, 13 November 2022 17:30 (two years ago)
it's actually kinda bad though. after having played it 3-4 times i'm over it. her verse is like "let's go expensive shopping daddy." o kayy.
a very different direction for her
i wonder what l.a. stereotype she's going to move on to next.
i'm still rooting for her but christ was slut pop embarrassing.
