You are all mentalists. "Give Love on Christmas Day" by the Jackson Five is the best XMAS song of all time, and it hasn't been mentioned yet?

J (Jay), Friday, 29 November 2002 18:27 (twenty-three years ago)

Boney M's probably has sold more then the rest. Im trying to what ABBA's Christmas single was.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 29 November 2002 18:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Roches - "Frosty the Snowman"

OR

Rash of Stabbings (Providence band from the 80s) - "A Christmas Song."

, Friday, 29 November 2002 18:41 (twenty-three years ago)

ABBA never did a Christmas song as far as I know. They did "Happy New Year", which shows up on my 2CD best-of-Xmas songs, but is nothing to do with Christmas. It is a beautiful, sad, and disturbing song though.

Tom (Groke), Saturday, 30 November 2002 00:57 (twenty-three years ago)

*Little Drum Machine Boy -Beck (well, seasonally related, at least)

The Baby Jesus, Saturday, 30 November 2002 01:42 (twenty-three years ago)

eleven months pass...
Revival time.

So the birthday of Jesus X is coming up, and I want to make some Xmas mix cds so that I'll never have to listen to the Anne Murray or Kenny G holiday albums ever again.

My own album (Ally McBeal: A Very Ally Christmas Featuring Vonda Shepard), is of course fantastic. Me, Calista, Macy Gray, and Robert (or Bob-O, as I call him) Downey Jr put our hearts and souls into that record. It has this certain special magic to it, above and beyond my usual magic, and I like to think that if you listen hard enough to those songs, you can hear Baby Jesus singin' an' playin' right along with us! Liana Jonas of the All Music Guide had this to say about it: "This set is sure to be a favorite at Holiday Office Party U.S.A. or right at home in living rooms with family and friends." Aw shucks! Thanks Liana!

So other than Ally McBeal: A Very Ally Christmas Featuring Vonda Shepard, what else should I play? There are plenty of songs in the above list, but are there some classics that are missing? Any help would be much appreciated.

Vonda Shepard, Wednesday, 12 November 2003 08:41 (twenty-two years ago)

It seems Squeeze's wonderful "Christmas Day" had no mention in the original thread. Well, now it is mentioned anyway.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 12:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Destiny's Child - "8 Days Of Christmas"

Nick H, Wednesday, 12 November 2003 12:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I've noticed there's a duplicate entry of 'Just Like Christmas' by Low. Swap one of them for Arab Strap's version of 'Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)' featuring Lauren Laverne. Or Darlene Love's 'All Alone On Christmas'.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 12:42 (twenty-two years ago)
