Even in daytime-bowdlerised form it is the most extreme single I can ever remember being playlisted, let alone tipped for a Christmas No.1. Really freaky hearing it in Snappy Snaps the other day.
And it's wonderful to keep coming across people who thought Eminem was just the latest shock merchant to excite the kids hearing this track and being bowled over.
Most of all I am still astonished that (slightly pat ending apart) the track still has the power to upset me every time I hear it. Seriously, it comes on MTV and I'm in tears. It's getting a bit embarrassing, to be honest.
BUT, surely Westlife's 'What Makes A Man' is more likely to be the Christmas number one than either Bob or Stan? Or Bob Stanley, for that matter. Never thought much of 'I Was Born On Christmas Day' when it came out but now I think it's cute.
