corrs unplugged, Monday, 25 July 2022 08:31 (three years ago)

Maybe Brother D.
I'm actually just waiting for 1981 to vote for Dancing Heart.

Nabozo, Monday, 25 July 2022 08:35 (three years ago)

Couldn't find it on Spotify but the title is intriguing

But, before I continue just let me say
This is not my ego soup
I sat down and thought, and I wrote this verse
In the interest, of the group

Always had a soft spot for Rhapazooty in Blue, as well as the sweet funky electric piano on Zulu Nation Throwdown pt2

nobody like my rap (One Eye Open), Monday, 25 July 2022 12:19 (three years ago)

hehe Rhapazooty In Blue is a lot of fun, sounds home made

seems to actually be from 1979 perhaps?

for future reference we already polled Ego Trip's Rap Singles 1979

8th wonder is a personal fave, so much joy

in places all over the world, real stuff be happening (voodoo chili), Monday, 25 July 2022 13:48 (three years ago)

vc otm — "8th wonder" my gut pick. will listen before voting though.

"Why is the voice of reason treated as the unreliable narrator?", asked (Austin), Monday, 25 July 2022 14:09 (three years ago)

I'd have to hear a couple of these again, but Treacherous Three's "New Rap Language" is awesome.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 25 July 2022 15:02 (three years ago)

all these songs are so long

symsymsym, Monday, 25 July 2022 15:09 (three years ago)

Willie Rap

Bait Kush (Eric H.), Monday, 25 July 2022 15:09 (three years ago)

Treacherous Three's "New Rap Language" is awesome

hard to believe Kool Moe Dee was rapping like that in 1980, way ahead of his time

symsymsym, Monday, 25 July 2022 15:23 (three years ago)

“The Adventures of Super Rhymes” is one of my all-time favorite songs, voting for that. I don’t know what my favorite part is: Supe rapping as soon as he came out his mother’s womb? The disco-dancing Dracula vampire that can’t get into Studio 54? Aladdin getting his three wishes and investing money “into an oil WELL”? The “this DJ he gets down” chant that Warren G stole for “What’s N-X-E-T”? That song is my jam!

Mr. Snrub, Monday, 25 July 2022 21:57 (three years ago)

This one’s going to hard. I think I heard all of these when I went on an old school rap binge about 9 years ago, but I’ll have to re-listen to some before voting.

F'kin Magnetometers, how do they work? (President Keyes), Tuesday, 26 July 2022 00:20 (three years ago)

Superrappin is such an incredible jam, would love to hear more like this

frogbs, Tuesday, 26 July 2022 00:49 (three years ago)

the beat in "New Rap Language" is so funky, has that dusty sound

flow impeccable

corrs unplugged, Tuesday, 26 July 2022 07:54 (three years ago)

but yeah average runtime around 7 mins probably

corrs unplugged, Tuesday, 26 July 2022 07:54 (three years ago)

Oh man, I can't wait for 1981. Obviously it's going to come down to "Ant Rap" and "Der Kommissar". Has a genre ever emerged from the underground into the mainstream and peaked so hard, so quickly?

Ashley Pomeroy, Tuesday, 26 July 2022 20:41 (three years ago)

baby shark iirc

"Why is the voice of reason treated as the unreliable narrator?", asked (Austin), Tuesday, 26 July 2022 22:19 (three years ago)

xp I gather that post was meant ironically, it took at least a decade for rap to establish itself as more than a novelty genre in mainstream media, many crossover hits along the way, and it was far from peaking commercially in the early 80s

System, Monday, 1 August 2022 00:01 (three years ago)

Decent turnout, not too surprising results

3 votes for Spoonie, vote splitting... 8th wonder indeed a joy

it only gets tougher in Ego Trip's Rap Singles 1981

corrs unplugged, Monday, 1 August 2022 11:06 (three years ago)

Not on the list: one of the worst songs ever recorded. A total amateur in a ridiculous accent tries this new thing called rap music.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_QcvPwa-l0

She’s so bad she ends up rapping off the beat in a couple spots.

Mr. Snrub, Tuesday, 9 August 2022 14:28 (three years ago)

haha that is super weird
