their latest is a pretty good indie folk album with lots of ambience, for fans of phil elverum, big thief etc.
clearly need their own thread when discussion has popped into a few others recently

wistful w/ a bit of twee pop

This has recently supplanted Big Thief in my listening rotation in the "I am in the mood for something warm, light, and pleasant to work/wake up/read/cook to" category. Like Dragon, transportive and world-like in its sound, and seems to do a lot with rather little. Haven't dug into the lyrics in great detail but Sprague and Lenker also seem to share some thematic interests:
I think I'm aliveI think I'm aliveToo much on my mindToo much on my mind
Take me, show me all the thingsThat I have never knownAnd do not say goodbyeDo not say goodbyeDo not say goodbyeDo not say goodbye

Great album, I like the woozy little instrumental interludes

is everyone aware that the singer of this band is also Emily Sprague, the (not huge but acclaimed) ambient artist?
in other words, if you like the instrumental interludes, you might find something to like here: https://mlesprg.bandcamp.com/music
just trying to set the thread off on a solid foundation of shared knowledge!

'Emily Alone' from a couple years ago was the one that won me over. Then that solo 'Hill,Flower,Fog' did its pleasant pastoral ambient thing, which was also quite nice.
This one is a pretty cool combo of the two + full band in tow. Which is exactly what I would've wanted from them, so, bravo. Anybody incorporating pastoral ambience in this manner puts me in the mind of that super special Virginia Astley record, which is a good thing.
Anybody catch them live? Worth the trip?

I saw them live a couple weeks back, it was great! They played a short set (< 1 hr) but Emily is quite charming and funny, which was honestly unexpected! I’ll absolutely see them again next time they come through town

Great news. Thanks, Clay! Now if only there were a date anywhere near Boston...

I'm taking a while to warm to this, but the same was true of Emily Sprague's most recent ambient album, and the latest Big Thief. So... I'll probably end up loving this.
Don't think it's quite up there with Big Thief in terms of songcraft though.
