Recommend songs that sound like "Audubon Trooper" by Jeffrey Alexander and the Heavy Lidders

Not expecting a lot of folks to know this song, but I'm sure you lot can point me to more songs with a similar vibe. As partially detailed in the aging parents thread, it's been a trying month or so, and this song was an unexpected balm when it came up on shuffle during one of my many drives between hospice and our temporary lodgings. I'm sure there are many others that nail this type of vibe but I want to see what ilm comes up with.

Maybe Damien Jurado? First one that came to mind.

I sometimes use Tunebat with varying degrees of success.

Brightblack Morning Light's self-titled maybe? less guitar though

I'm assuming you don't need to hear about, e.g., Neil Young, the Grateful Dead or David Crosby

Brightblack is a good call though, yeah, looking for more guitar centric stuff. Definitely looking for more under the radar suggestions, feel like there might be some Bardo Pond that hits on this vibe?

i'm sure you're familiar with citay, but they've been scratching a similar itch for me over the past week

Citay is a good call, for sure, I don't think I've ever heard their debut though. I'll add that to my list.

I was gonna say Bardo Pond too, but it's been so long I can't remember what to suggest and iirc it's noisier than that tack. at any rate, I liked Amanita a lot back in the day:

Forsyth also a good call, really familiar with his work. I'd say the vocals are the most expendable part of this song, so I'm cool with instrumentals, though there was something about the mantra like feel that I connected with.

six months pass...

Yeah that Dead Meadow is a good call, underrated album by an underrated band.

New Jeffrey Alexander & The Heavy Lidders album out in September, New Earth Seed. I'm a big fan of this guy already, but was pleased to see the cast list for this one:

Produced by and featuring: Chris Forsyth

Joined by:
Geologist (Animal Collective)
Kate Wright (Movietone)
Ryan Jewell (Ryley Walker Band, Mosses, Rose City Band)
Jeff Tobias (Sunwatchers, Modern Nature)
Brent Cordero (Psychic Ills)

Not to mention that the Heavy Lidders themselves are Scott Verrastro (Bardo Pond) on drums and both dudes from Elkhorn.

Finally got to hear Planet Lidders, now that it's out on another label and not paywalled behind the subscription only tier.

It's really good, especially "Plastistone Circle" and "Crystal Microphone", I just love the vibe. Jeff Tobias' sax is a good addition on the former.

I have Sorcerer by them, but I've been meaning to dig a little deeper.
