Official BBC Children in Need singles POLL

Wrong time of year entirely but still. You're voting for your favourite, not least favourite.

There's maybe seven or eight I actually don't mind - a few of which I genuinely like. Any advance on that?

Sorry fans of BBC Radio Devon's Let's All Join Together (1986), Sharon Reid with Clubsound - A Better Way (1988) or Amounderness featuring Jon Anderson - Reach Out (1989) but I'm only including the singles deemed "official" to the marathons.

This has to be one of the worst lists of songs I've ever encountered.

Radio 2 artists you thought were dead but it turns out they're on Radio 2

Kieth Encounter (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 19 January 2023 17:16 (one year ago) link

this is Never Had a Dream Come True by fucking parsecs at a first glance

Kieth Encounter (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 19 January 2023 17:17 (one year ago) link

You can tell when they stop using pop stars a few years past their peak and just stick to hardcore uncompromising Radio 2 names.

Lewis Capaldi must really hate children or something

i can imagine how they used the Clannad song but it's such a leftfield element in this list

Kieth Encounter (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 19 January 2023 17:26 (one year ago) link

The ones (actually one) I "genuinely like"

Perfect Day (but probably only with the video)

The ones I "don't mind"

Clannad
Never Had a Dream Come True
I'll Stand by You
Downtown
Do Ya
the medley (again probably only with the video)

sorry but that Perfect Day is very No

was gonna say the only thing that stops it being the most evil choice on the list is the Dadrock Katie Hopkins, Liz Kershaw

Kieth Encounter (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 19 January 2023 17:29 (one year ago) link

Last time I listened to Perfect Day without the video/advert the Tom Jones/Heather Small bits annoyed me farrr too much.

Still it got Laurie Anderson to no. 1 and what not

O Superman was morally number 1

Kieth Encounter (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 19 January 2023 17:35 (one year ago) link

"Perfect Day" is a great song to do a karaoke with pals, because it's basically a game of celebrity impressions. Otherwise, my reaction to this list is, haven't the children suffered enough?

boxedjoy, Thursday, 19 January 2023 18:23 (one year ago) link

How can it be anything other than Liz Kershaw and Bruno Brookes featuring Jive Bunny and Londonbeat? PS anyone who votes for Peter Kay is a fucking psychopath.
